2007 Bajaj Pulsar 150 Logo
Anonymous Posted on Jul 22, 2011

I have a Bajaj Pulsar 150cc bought in 2007. I regularly give bike for servicing and the running is smooth and in good condition. Suddenly from last month, whenever my bike gets wet in the rain for some time, it runs some distance and then abruptly stops. Then, i need to wait for some time and then retry and retry and finally it would start after 5 mins and again after going for some distance the same problem happens. This continues till 6-7 kms and then it would run without issues. Everytime the bike gets wet, I'm encountering this problem. I never had this problem all these years. I even took to a mechanic shop, but even the mechanic couldnt find the issue. Please help me. I also changed the left spark plug, but it didnt helped me.

Start at you battery and work back towards your ignition inspecting each and every harness connector...disconnect, clean with electric contact cleaner, apply a small amount of dielectric grease and reconnect, even the connectors under the seat. Take your time and it will be worth the effort. Check all the grounds too.

Couple of days before it completely got stopped on my way to office and then luckily I found a nearby mechanic shop. When I told the whole story, he instantly told that water would have gone inside the petrol tank.

When we took the petrol from the tank we saw that indeed the water was there and this water was going inside the carb which was creating all the hell of a problem. I gave the bike for servicing and he told that the small hole which is inside the petrol tank, if stuck with dust, would create all this nonsense.

Now the bike is doing gud.

Try replacing the CDI unit of the bike, this problem is mostly caused due to a faulty cdi unit
