First you need to take off the trunk, saddlebags, mounting hardware, take off seat, take off bar that was under seat, take off rear wheel, take off rear fender, Remove the plastic under fender, drain tank, take off fuel petcock, you may have to get a shock or two out of the way, at any rate you should now get the big picture . The tank comes straight out the back of the motorcycle through the rear wheel area.

I own a Kawasaki 500. There have been times when I didn't start it for two years. Start it and run the gas out, then refill.

I have a 82 gl 1100 goldwing. The previous owner

The fuse on the starter solenoid is the main fuse for the bike. If that fuse was removed and replaced with a wire, you could melt down the entire harness or even burn up the cycle. The short that was popping the fuse has probably melted part of the harness or popped fuses in another part of the bike. Start checking in the main fuse box in the fake tank for shorts. Also check the solenoid with the main fuse for melt down, good luck.

I purchased a new gas tank for my '82 yamaha vision 550. the replacement tank is from an '83 and there seems to be 3 inlets on the '83 tank(fuel or vaccum) and 2 on the '82 tank i'm replacing. Just...

The 83 has a fuel return line intended to prevent vapor lock , by circulating cooler gas through he fuel pump. You can cap off the fuel return hose and it will cause no problems. The carbs on the 82 differ quite a bit from the 83 and the petcocks are not interchangeable, with out a lot of work.

How do I remove the false gas tank on a 1984 honda goldwing

You can pick up a complete owners/service manual as well as the parts manual on cd. I got mine for my GL1100, then when I upgraded to my GL1200, I picked up another set from the same person.
Contact Wanda G at [email protected]. I believe she still sells the cd's for around $7.00 including the shipping anywhere in the US.
When I got mine, she included both the owners/service manual and the parts manual. Pretty big to download, at around 200mb.
Manuals are good enough, I just rebuilt my engine, and all 4 carbs and I'm no mechanic.
