It sounds like either the throttle position sensor or the mass airflow sensor are bad-the TPS can be checked with a digital meter, it should give different voltage readings as the throttle is opened with the engine off, key on. The MAF can be cleaned with MAF cleaner, or will need to be replaced. Another, although less likely possibility is a clogged fuel filter.

Aww finally after so much searching, I have a 86 535I that is doing same but I havent ever been able to get her driven. Doesnt run well enuff to keep running. have you checked to ensure that pin 35 on ecu is working or that your obc relay box is working, these are the same issues Ive run itno along the way. Please if there is anyting you and I can go thru about thisz car I am at [email protected]
OBC RELAY box somow has control over fuel pumps. INLINE AND INTANK and its all monitored thru ecu. Timing openess of injectors, fuel and air, and basicly it all runs thru motronic ecu box, I am trying to go thru it and find my own sort but it looks like from all test Ive still encountered intermitted starts with very poor run and when it does run as soon as you press gas slowly it wants to die, if you wide open her then she revs high then looses all power. what have you done? Do you have motronic check list and what motronic box do you have? I can send you all I have for this vehical and system
as for maf sensor we dont have on on this car. It is all controled by the air meter box which as long as the flap moves its supossedly working. Still looking into actual fuctinalitly but I do ave omh reading inside of a check list you are welcome to. you can find it on google its called motronic basic checklist
