NO, then its not the cap, PERIOD.
the cap will fail not at fill ups, as that makes you remove it
this breaks the seal and with the wrong cap lets in the air.
and car start. the wrong cap with no vacuum breaker
causes lost power and stalls driving. (lost fuel pressure)
so why try to guess. why not do the simple tests. done now for 100 years. on all engines (spark , otto cycle engines)
1: check for spark. ????
2: check for flooding or lost fueling.
fueling:
spark tips (yes, remove and look) are soaked in fuel dripping
yup , flooded,
to unflood it crank with throttle wide open, called WOT. this cuts fuel
and flooded cars starts, (operators guide tells this......)
if spark tips dry, then its starving for fuel
so add some. ( a test)
