I have a 2006 model and I have always used standard engine oil, that i got from asda (not the very cheap stuff)

there are various schools of thoughts on this subject, however I spoke to a person who works for a distributor who told me molecularity there are no fundamental differences in car and motorbike oil. Well apart from double the price

You can use any oil that is JASO MA certified motorcycle oil. 10w-40 for cold climate/year round. 20w-50 for warm climate/touring. Car oils use different additives and may cause scoring in certain types of cam bearings. Do not use any oil that says " Energy Conserving " on the label . It will shorten the life of your wet clutch and transmission gears. If you choose Synthetic oils, they will help your bike run cooler and shift easier. Shell Rotella T ($12 a gallon ) and Rotella T Synthetic 15w-40 ($22 a gallon) are inexpensive JASO MA oils. In most Honda's you will need 4 quarts of oil, an aluminum drain plug washer, and a filter. Pour in 3.2 quarts , run the motor, and check the oil level . Top up as needed.

Car oil and motorcycle oil were basically the same back when the highest rating was SG. Motorcycle oils will usually contain calcium stearate to protect the transmission gear surfaces.

Modern "fuel saving oils" will not protect your gears and clutch plates from excessive wear and may cause the bike to be harder to shift. Some diesel oils like "Shell Rotella T" and "Rotella T Synthetic" meet the requirements of your engine with some monetary savings over cycle oil.

What is the oil capacity

Capacity is between 1.3 and 1.8 liters. I know that is quite a gap, but it will depend on how much of the old oil you remove when performing an oil change on your Honda CB 250.

92 honda cb 750, oil light will not go out, bike won't start

Look around the engine oil drain plug and fill area and see if there is an electric sending unit( small plug with a prong for a wire) that is screwed into the engine if so check to see if its unplugged / could be a low oil cut off switch that kills all power to the ignition if the oil is to low ( or the wire is unplugged)
