2002 Voyager xii on warmer days when coming to a stop the engine goes into a high Idle 2000-2500 rpm. Dragging the clutch enough to slow the engine down will make it idle normally until the throttle is opened again. There is plenty of play in the throttle cables and if the idle speed screw is adjusted the bike won't idle when cold. I suspect either a carb float problem or something with the emissions system. Any ones past experiences would be helpful.

SOURCE: I need tuning specs for my 1982 suzuki gs 750.

You need to fix the fueling first - without fuel it won't run!
Your other problem sounds like an air leak - either the manifold or the carb. Check by spraying WD-40 or CRC at the manifold and carb join while the bike is running - if the revs change (either up or down) you have a leak.

SOURCE: Yamaha DT 125 1986 - High Revs when idling

i would say the answer from polar cycle is good...but if it is not the case....you may take a look at crankshaft seal..sometimes the primary compression is not good if cranks seal leaks and it make the bike running lean in gaz and having you're idle getting up sometimes.........check the transmission oil if its low in quantity even after replacing it recently (this means that you're transmission oil is getting burn by you're motor) and also remove the magneto cover to see if there is gaz accumulation in that area...if so that means the seal leaks on the magneto side.....

Testimonial: "After finally rebuilding the carbs and replacing the reeds and air filter, the problem was actually solved by replacing the crank seal. "

the high speed needle is set first ( one closest to the air filter) to obtain smooth high rpm running then the idle needle ( next to the engine ) is adjusted as you slowly slow down the rpm
final idle speed is achieved by adjusting the throttle screw and should be just slow enough that the centrifugal clutch is not engaged

Ok I got saw running good fast but won’t idle?

the sequence to throttle adjustment is to adjust to high speed first ( screw closest to the air filter) turn in in or out until it fires evenly at rpm and picks up rpm easily
now hold the throttle at full throttle and slowly idle down while adjusting the idle screw ( closest to the butterfly) to maintain engine running
the screw should have been turned all the way in then back out 1 1/2 turns before starting the engine
keep slowing the engine while making very small adjustment until it idles at rpm slow enough that the chain is not driving
If you get it low but it stalls out , then adjust the throttle stop screw to maintain idle rpm
Correct adjustment is from this point the rpm increases rapidly with out falter ( fine tune high speed screw to achieve that)
and when left to idle will do so evenly without driving the chain
all of this working is depending on the carby having new diaphragms , needle height adjustment correct and the system cleaned out

2002 accent stalls and has a rough idle

During rough idling, when the clutch is released due to high rpm of the engine, the engine may stalls. Another possible reason due to quick release of clutch pedals.

First tune the idling of the engine. Look for the cleaness of the air filter, Fuel lines are clear for free flow. Check the spark plugs for free from carbons and gaps are maintained correctly.

When slowing down the car change to appropriate gears and netural the gears when about to stop.

My car slams when put into drive. is it the idle

Yes, sounds like the idle speed is too high. If you keep driving like that, you will fry the torque converter / turbine. Since idle is computer controlled, you will have to take it for service tune up. There is one possibility that the rich, high rpm idle used for cold start is not disengaging properly after the engine warms up. Air conditioning will raise the idle speed by a couple hundred rpm, so avoid using it until you have the problem fixed. BTW.....warm engine rpm in idle, and neutral should be around 700-800. Anything over 900-1100 will result in a hard shift into 1st gear and dragging at stop lights.

Weird idle when clutch is disengaged

Sounds like a bad idle air motor (That controls idle) But you must pull compiter codes first (The computr tells it what to do)

Question? is the engine's heat normal, if not there's sensor that boosts idle when the engine is cold

If you removed the thrmostat, put it back in.FIRST

The throttle sticks during the warmer months

The throttle body is located on the driver side of the engine compartment.
If throttle plate has not been clean you might want to get a can of carburetor cleaner, remove the inlet snorkel hose and clean around and behind the throttle plate.
The IAC (idle air control) motor may need to be cleaned. The IAC controls your idle rpm.
Good luck, let me know.
