Sounds to me your starter has died. You can check this by taking the starter of the engine and connect it directly to a batterie. if it doesn't turn it has died. Otherwise it could be a damaged wire or a loose wire from the stratrelais to the starter or from the batterie to the startrelais. You can check those with a multimeter on the Ohm setting, if it reads infinite it means the wire is broken. If the reading is high it means the wire is damaged.

My S10 blazer dash lights go out after I start it and I hit a bump or something. But get power to everything else. Turn the key to start it and no dash lights, no crank, and can't start now.

Hi,

Please double check that your dashboard lights are not just dim when the headlights are not on. usually, dash lights get brighter when this happens. Please double check that you don't have a week battery as well. You might need to get the lights within the dashboard replaced.

Thank you.

04 Honda Shadow 1100 wont crank. Horn works. Headlight works. Turn signals work. Headlight goes out when starter button is depressed. Started fine yesterday. Today starter button does nothing.

I believe you have a battery that is just about gone. My Indian Roadmaster requires quite a bit to start and when my battery was gone, everything worked except for the starter. No clicking ... nada. My headlight would turn off when I would hit the starter button as well. I replaced the battery and the world was good again. Pull your battery...and many places will check it out for you.

Will a van start without the steering column locked?

Do you mean it won't crank at all, or cranks but does not start. If the first, turn on headlamps and try to start. Do headlights dim? If not, you may have bad battery connections, bad solenoid, bad neutral safety switch. If lights dim, bad battery, connections, solenoid or starter motor.

Wont crank or kick start, battery and fuses seem fine lights work, click when i hit start button?

When you attempt to kick start it, does the engine turn over or not? If not, the the engine is locked because it is seized up, or it is in gear.
If it does turn over, then look at your head light while attempting to start it... if it dims some - that is normal, but if it dims a lot - your battery may be weak. Please reply with some more information! Thanks!

Jeep liberty 2008

turn on the headlights and try to crank the engine; if the lights dim out while you try to crank, then the starter is ok but the battery is too weak. just turning on the lights does not mean that the battery has enough juice to crank the engine; a starter pulls a lot more than lights. If the headlights do not dim out and it still won't crank, then the starter or a connection to the starter is your problem.

Trouble shoot a 2007 honda crv starter

Take the starter off for testing. If the lights were normally bright, and went dim when key was in cranking position, it means the start circuit is working-battery power is going to the starter, but it won't do anything. The starter motor is probably bad.
Good luck.

No start turn the key and nothing

Does the car crank? If not, does you lights dim when trying to start? If your lights are bright and the car is not starting than It's most likely the starter. If your lights are dim than try to jump start it. If it cranks and still not starting than it could be so many different things.

1985 v-max no start condition

If your headlight dims badly, you may have a draw from something. The best way to test it is to use a meter. Test the battery voltage, and then while trying to start it test again, if you have a big voltage drop, something may be bad. (Like a starter) You can also disconnect the positive from the starter and see if your headlight dims then. Hope this might get you rolling!!!
