I purchased a 1998 suzuki intruder VL LC 1500 a couple months ago. My problem is I was only getting 23 MPG running 93 octain or higher fuel. It also had a set of bastardized cobra straight pipes on it. I purchased stock exhaust for it and had my mechanic install them and rebuild the carbs back to stock spec and jets. I still get 23 MPG, any ideas. Thanks Bill

Since it had aftermarket pipes the carb jets were more than likely changed, You may need to see what size jets were installed and change them out

Carbs might have been drilled out to increase fuel flow with the aftermarket pipes. If that's the case pick up a couple of used carbs

How to adjust clutch 1998 Suzuki VL 1500 intruder LC

The clutch on this model is hydraulic and is 'self adjusting", if the clutch is slipping the plates are worn out and in need of replacement. This information comes directly from the factory service manual.

How much oil goes in a 1998 VL 1500? Never done

Drain your oil. Get several quarts of oil that Suzuki recommends for your VL 1500. Fill it until your dip stick indicates the proper level.

Dont get cheap on this ... motorcycles take q beating and need high quality lubricants.
