without more input its hard to say, sounds like carb gummed up, remove and clean bowl, valve n seat, when you remove bowl if foriegn material or strange color in fuel is found clean thouroughly with carb cleaner and reassemble according to specs

Yamaha did not make the GP model until 97 and if the numbers you posted are correct you have a 94, that being said all yamahas up until 93 were either a 500 or a 650 so im guessing its not a superjet which is a standup so you may have a waverunner 3, Raider, Blaster, or a wave runner LX. What colors are on it? does it have twin carbs? there will also be a sticker on the engine cases noting engine size.
It's best to use a new gasket, however I have reused carb gaskets, and it worked fine. It will probably work ok if the gasket is not torn or deformed to any great degree. I smear a thin coat of Permatex non hardening sealant no.2 on both sides. If you can get new ones, that's best.
