likely having the same issues as many others warn internal 3rd gear, with service records showing you took care of the vehicle, Mazda customer service may assist with repairs. It has been an issue with 3rd and 5th gear
Not common. Being that it only happens in third, it is possible that the clutch is funtioning normally but your syncronizers might be shot. Or close to shot. Try double clutching to relieve some of the grinding. That means to shft from 2nd or 4th to neutral, let out the clutch then push the clutch again and shift to third. That was how old transmissions had to be shifted before we had syncronized transmissions. Not a very fast way to move. Or you might be able to skip 3rd whenever possible. I'm not sure abou tthe price of the tranny repair.
The automatic transmissions of today's cars are electonically controlled by the ECM, when a problem arises the transmission will send a DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) to your ECM. You will need to take your car to a mechanic to test and replace the Reverse Solenoid in your transmission, the pan will have to be pulled off to do that.
There are any number of things internal to the tranny that could cause this. The popping out condition is caused by jamming the tranny into gear, or by failed sychronizers, gear/shaft wear, etc. Will require pulling and disassembly of the tranny to determine the exact cause.
