Resting volts on the battery should be 12.4. This rises to 13.2 volts when charging. Amps (current) is stored in the battery for starting. Typical amperage to the battery for charging would be 2 amps to 6 amps depending on battery state. The Regulator should monitor that. They do have a history of electrical issues and of the batteries heating up.

It most definitely is NOT the carbs since the 1900cc Raider is fuel injected.

I assume the error code 12 is the same as a fault code. In that case you have a abnormal signal from the crankshaft position sensor, either originated from the sensor itself or failure (fractured core)in the wiring harnes or in the conections between the sensor and the Engine Control Unit (ECU).
