Aprilia sr50 is ac not dc therefore battery wont make any difference, in fact all being well it should start without a battery. Need to check the pick up, stator, coil, and ignition switch as well as any safety switches such as rear brake lever switch and/or side stand if fitted.
You could make sure your battery is fully charged then if this doesnt help just replace the plug
