92 honda accord lx auto trans has been shifting around 2,500-3,000 rpm each gear and now the D4 gear does not work at all and D3 works but accelerates slowly after a complete stop. i have to shift down into gear 2 to accelerate then shift back into D3 when i reach 30 mph. when im driving the D4 light does not glow but when i come to a stop it glows no matter what gear i am in. please help!

This light is indicating a fault in the automatic gear box, it can be excessive slippage (you may feel nothing unusual) or other problems. you must have it scanned by a dealer or ****** repair shop to find out what is causing the light to come on.

solenoid you have to replace them and they r expencive

D4 is slipping and not engaging. This means you need a transmission. you're losing a gear

Larry, you really need to take it to a trasnsmission shop and find out what the trouble codes are, but it seems as though you have a burned up transmission. Thanks and good luck with your repair.

Check if your transmission computer located in the passenger kick panel under carpet. It should say AT Control Unit. Open the unit and look for burned resistors or capacitors. If you noticed a burn spot, replace...if not its better to take it to the Honda dealership and get a diagnostic.

check the shift solenoids by using a OHM METER .the both solenoid connectors has 2 terminals 1 and 2 .take ohm meter measure terminal 1 resistance to body ground it should be 14-30 ohms.if less or more replace it.then number 2 terminal to ground.do both the connectors that you disconnect.they should be 14-30 ohms.if less or more replace them.if they check out good .your valve body in transmission is going have to be removed.

This issue is caused by a transmission fault or malfunction, most likely a shift solenoid in the trans has failed or the trans control module has a problem, the trans can be tested for codes that will show what circuit or component of the trans controls is causing the light to stay blinking, have it tested.

the shift points in the trans are electroniclly controlled if they are going bad witch is normally the case with the accord auto trans.you can either have the trans rebuilt or get a new one.

on my 95 accord my d4 light used to flash after driving for for an hour or 2 then the speedo would do strange things.so i changed the speed sensor relay [located on the gearbox] and solved the problem.

You need to change the clutch pads on the cars for a smoother drive...............
