Don't hold the lever in as you kick. It is designed to get you just past TDC on the compression stroke. Try this:

1. pull in decomp lever (it should stay down)
2. slowly move kick start down. STOP as soon as the decomp lever pops up.
3. return kick starter to the top of the stroke.
4. kick smoothly all the way to the bottom. (takes very little effort)
5. no start? return to step 1.

If it still problem try check the adjustment on the decomp lever. The lever should stay down until you rotate the engine with the kick start to just past TDC on the compression stroke.

Kickstarter is stuck 2003 Suzuki DR-Z 125 L

Rock the bike gently forward and back while shifting into fifth gear. Now push the bike forward while sitting on it and see if the rear tire turning will turn the motor. If not, your motor is stuck. If it turns, you have a kickstarter issue.
Many people never learned to depress the kickstarter down until you feel it engage before kicking it through. Kicking from the top slams the gear teeth together and causes damage. You may need to pull of the engine cover to determine if there’s damage.

1993 dr 350. very hard starting. how can i make this easier.

Install a new spark plug; NGK DPR9EA-9. Be sure the battery is fully charged. Drain the carb to remove any condensation in the float bowl. Use the choke and throttle sparingly to avoid flooding. Get the piston going upward to TDC compression. Now gently push the piston just past TDC so it will be heading downward. Now give the kick lever a good strong kick. Repeat the process as needed.

'92 SUZUKI 350 DR spark plug

According to NGK sparkplugs at www.ngksparkplugs.com .

You Suzuki uses an NGK # DPR9EA-9 standard plug or a
DPR9EIX-9 Iridium plug. They both gap at .035".

Hope this helps.

IV A PROBLEM WITH MY 91 SUZUKI DR 650 I JUST FITTED NEW STARTER CLUTCH AS I THOUGHT THIS WAS MY PROBLEM BUT IT ISNT,WHEN YOU HIT THE START BUTTON TO START THE BIKE THE SPROCKET BEHIND THE FLY DOESNT SEEM...

Sounds like your starter solenoid is not engaging. Try tapping it with a dead blow hammer or a hammer and block of wood (gently! Not to hard!) If it bumps over that is your problem. Also check all connections to solenoid and starter.

The whirring noise you are hearing is your starter motor but your bendix gear is not engaging.

Hope this helps!
