It can be loose speedo connections.Try this.Remove the philips head screw thats located under your speedo. pull speedo free from push in rubber grommets. unplug speedo from harness, spray white lithium grease into plug on the back or speedo and onto end of harness. plug back in and make sure it snaps. re install speedo. ------------Check your battery connections - they may be loose, causing the problem. Your battery may also be going south, causing the voltage drop.------ Also check the speed rotor (little UFO shaped thing in there) This is what it read to give you mph.Take the cover off of the sprocket, and check the front sprockets.Is the sprocket rubbing against the speed rotor.If yes, then sprockets are getting loose and causing the problem.----------------Check out, this possibilities.this will help to troubleshoot the problem.thanks.Helpmech,

Hello: To correct this condition you will have to replace the cluster. After replacement the mileage and engine hours will have to be reset then the cluster will have to be programmed to your truck.
IT SURE SOUND TO ME LIKE YOU ARE MISSING A GROUND TO THESE GAUGES. THIS WILL BE TOUGH TO LOCATE WITHOUT A SCHEMATIC DRAWING TO HELP YOU. YOU MAY BE ABLE TO LOOK UNDER THE DASH FOR A LOOSE WIRE. YOU CAN ALSO CHECK THE FUSE PANEL FOR THE FUSE MARKED GAUGES TO SEE IF IT IS MAKING GOOD CONTACT. HOPE THIS HELPS. BEST OF LUCK. LET ME KNOW PLEASE. THANKS FOR USING FIX-YA!!!!!!!!!!!!
i would disconnect the battery again let it sit for 15 minutes, i changed an alternator and jumped the car then started driving and that happened to me, 20 minutes of driving and the computer finally kicked in and started working again. good luck
