SOURCE: hard to start from cold
Hi brownboots,
Have you tried using the choke to start it when its cold?
Secondly the air-fuel mixture may require to reset, but before you do tht after a spin , remove the plug and examine it ....it should be brownish and dry!
Also make sure the saprk plug is of the correct type per manufacturers specs.
Hope this would help.
Knight.

I would check for a blockage in the carburettor fuel inlet or the reed valves may have something forcing them open.

If your bike is spitting back through the carburetor, this is an indication that the fuel air mixture is lean. They come jetted lean from the factory so that they can pass the EPA emissions test. If this is something that has just started, you may have a partially clogged jet in the carb. I'd check the accelerator pump as well. Take the air filter off the carb and look just inside the mouth of the carb. You'll see a brass nozzle in there. With the engine OFF, crank the throttle grip to wide open. You should see a stream of gasoline squirt out of the nozzle. If not, the accelerator pump diaphragm needs replacing. Also check the operation of the VOES switch. With the engine idling, disconnect and plug the vacuum hose going to the switch. The engine idle RPM should drop. If not, the VOES Switch may be bad.
Good Luck
Steve
