Aprilia sr 50r digital odometer will not reset

2005 Aprilia sr 50r digital odometer stuck on reading 47k miles (approx miles is 4k), just replaced speedo drive sensor & cable (one piece), analogue speedo is now working, all was ok until it snowed last winter, battery went flat and had to be charged, is there a way to reset/boot the digital part of dash. Temerature, clock, gauge & other 'mode' screens are all working, have checked fuses & removed the plug from speedometer column, all to no avail.

SOURCE: starter not turning after winter. battery was removed/charg

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

If the starter motor will not turn, a few ideas to consider:

  • the starter motor is actually switched by the starter relay. The starter relay is switched by the start button;
  • on pressing the start button there would be an audible click, that would be the starter relay;
  • the starter relay will only work if the sidestand is down, the bike is in neutral and the engine switch is on. These are the interlocks/safeguards;
  • to locate the starter relay, follow the cable from the + terminal of the battery;
  • press on the start button, the starter relay should click;
  • if starter motor will not turn, jumper the two big terminals of the starter relay using a wrench. Do it on the nuts not on the threaded portion;
  • if the starter motor engages, then the starter relay is faulty;
  • if there is no click from the starter relay, either it is faulty or any of the interlocks is preventing it from working;
  • if there is click but the starter will not spin and then will spin when the terminals are jumped, then the contacts of the starter relay are faulty;
  • if even jumping the terminals, the starter motor will not turn, then it wold be a defective starter motor, most likely the carbon brushes.
Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

SOURCE: 06 m50 sat for approx 6 months charged the battery won't start.

from your description, i would sugest you make sure fuel is getting to the injector unit, remove the fuel supply hose.if you have spark at the plugs and fuel getting to the injectors you have isolated the problem. i would also drain the old fuel when you take the hose off and fill the tank with high grade fuel. bikes dont like old gas.

Odometer reading has changed on 2005 Sierra 1500 GMC truck

These year models are very bad with problems related to the gage cluster. You can replace but first I would reset the trucks computer by disconnecting and reconnecting the battery for about 20 minutes. This will reset the computer and maybe fix the reading on odo. Thanks.

I have a 2003 ford escape & the digital odometer doesn't work correctly

Have the dealer do a speedometer accuracy test. They have a special tool that can electronically read the speed and then compare it to the readout of the odometer.

Reset service indicator, 2011 toyota tacoma

turn OFF the key, hold down the odometer button, turn on the key without starting it. You will see things scrolling across the odometer and then all zeroes... you're done! A stock reset is 5000 miles, your manual tells you ways to change that to 3K, 4K or leave it at 5K. It has to do with holding down the button during a reset.
