I have a 2005 harley ultra classic electra glide and have about 9100 miles on it...I just rode it for the first time this year and on my return home about 5 miles from home i notice i had oil coming out around the oil line and the oil sender unit and oil drain tube area...Someone told me this is common on the first time out after sitting all year and after changing my oil....Should i get it looked at.....What should the oil pressure read at idle and 60mph....Thanks, jeff

Yes, you're probably correct in your assumption. I don't have a lot of experience with the Twin Cam engines however. I specialize in the earlier Evo, Shovelhead, Panhead, and Ironhead Sportys. I'd clean the area and check the oil level again. With the engine cold, the oil level should be between the lines. The upper line is "FULL HOT" and the lower mark is "FULL COLD". Do not overfill. As long as the oil level is between the lines cold, do not add oil. Ride until the engine gets to full operating temp and then check the oil level.

I don't know if the Twin Cam engines will "oil sump" like the Evo and earlier engines would but I'm certain the Electra Glide won't due to the fact that the oil tank is on the bottom of the transmission. This means the oil tank is below the engine so it won't do this. As long as the engine sounds OK and the oil is pumping back into the oil tank, I'd go ahead and ride it again and then check it.

Good Luck
Steve

Spongy front brake 2005 electra glide

You need to bleed the brakes and if the fluid is old it may be breaking down and should also be changed at this time in that case. Remeber two years is the life of brake fluid

No start 09 Ultra Classic Electra Glide

Sounds like your charging system is not charging the battery.

Put a volt meter on the battery, run the engine up to maybe 2,000 RPM. The voltage must be at least 13.8V, but not more than 14.5.

If that is all OK, your battery is worn out, and is not holding sufficient reserve. It would need to be replaced.

Harley had a bunch of bad speedos around your year. Check with a dealer or service rep to see if your bike still qualifies for a free replacement.
