unlikley as its only the rubber that touches the crank shaft on any car but it could be warped moving the seal and letting oil out more likeley if its still leaking did the garage do it it may be that the seal was rubbish they put in and are trying to get more money out of you for the sake of another seal was it genuin parts of aftermarket parts as some times that makes a masive difference hope this helps
