My bike has been sitting for a while problay two years i have changed the oil,oil filter,an batter this past week i will turn over but want trun on. i spay some started fluid in the air intake it started for few secounds then shut down while tring to give it some gas clean it up inside the engine. do i need to take the injectors out an clean them or spray down the throttle body to clean them.

Probably need to clean the injectors, there are specialist companies that use an ultrasonic cleaner and test the injectors on a test bench, for reasonable money

Ok mate few things to consider here, if the bike has been non started and stationary for a year there is a very good chance that one of the following or all of the following has occurred.
Your battery is dead (they don't like just sitting - doesn't matter new or old, if left for extensive time they will die) Your gear / motor oil would be useless - oil can not just sit in bottom of bike for a year it would be glue
Your carbi would be blocked or partially blocked from fuel gum or varnish in jets
If you like this bike I highly recommend oil and filter change, New spark plug (put about 10 drops of oil down the spark plug hole before you put new spark plug back in to lube the piston) clean air filter (or fit new one) Remove carbi and compressed air clean all jets especially the pilot jet and circuit and stick in a new battery
Once all done for the fist start I would find a nice safe hill and push start it. in my experience under this circumstances if you rely on the electric starter you may find you burn it out trying to start so give at least few minutes running motor to flush everything through before trying to electric start would be your best bet
When you get it going I would dump the oil and oil filter again after 2 hours ride time to confirm all the old expired oil is flushed out - just to be safe

When change air and oil filters

Every 6000km/3500mile or every year. It's best to change oil and oil filter at the start of every driving season if the bike was longer than 2 months sitting regardless of milage.

Bike sat for 2 months.it was full of fuel when it was parked

Sometimes when a bike sits, the floats get corroded and stick and sometimes they stick open allowing fuel to overfill the carburetor, if the intake is open when parked, the fuel will run right into the combustion chamber, pass by the piston rings and into the cranckcase.
I saw this happen serveral times.

Check your oil level and its probably overfilled, but its a gas and oil mixture so do not just drain out enough oil to the correct level, drain all the oil and change the oil filter.

Now you'll also have to pull the carburetor and have in thouroughly cleaned, jets removed and soaked, rinsed and blown through with compressed air.

After your carbs are cleaned and a new oil change your bike will be good to go.

Some people prefer to use seafoam added to their gasoline, to help prevent the floats from sticking and the jets clogging.
If possible it is also helpful to start the bike at least weekly and let it warm up to temp.
especially if you plan not to ride it for a while. If you fear that the gas will run into the motor again from sitting, be sure to turn the fuel petcock to off.

What kind of maintenance should i do to my 1989 cbr 600 f to keep it in tip top running condition

  • Change gearbox oil every 3000 miles. Change oil filter every 6000 miles. Use 10w40 motor oil. NEVER use synthetic lubricants as they can mess up the clutch.
  • Oil the chain every two weeks. Lube the control cables every oil filter change.
  • Keep the gas tank full in the cold months. This lessens internal tank rusting due to condensation in the tank. Drain the carbs when the bike will sit over the winter unless you plan on starting the bike every two weeks and letting it run for 15 minutes each time.
  • Be sure the gas valve is turned off when the bike is not in use.
  • Get a 2 amp trickle charger and charge the battery once a week for 4 hours in the winter. Be sure to keep enough water in the battery to cover the top of the plates in each cell. Know that batteries only last two years or so.
  • Check the chain tension once a month during the summer riding season.

How much oil I have to put inside the engine??

Most 900-1000cc sport bikes require 3.8 qts depending if you are also changing the oil filter or not (which I would recommend also if you do buy the filter pay the extra few $ for the Honda oil filter wrench that comes with the filter, it makes the allot easier and also works on all Honda models as well as most other model bikes with that style oil filter...but remember only a quarter turn past hand tight or so should do the trick, you don’t need to go crazy)...If you are not changing the filter it will take a little less...most likely around 3 qts depending oh how much is trapped in the oil filter sill

Buy 4 quarts. Put 3 in and run the bike for about a min or two at idle to let the oil circulate as well as heat up and expand. Then shut the bike off and let it sit for another 5 min, then if needed have a friend hold the bike upright or do it yourself if your confident (but don’t him or sit with weight on the seat or bike or it will affect ride height and in turn oil level)

Then add oil as needed, to fill it to just under the top of the 2 oil marks (leaving a little room for the still cool oil to expand)

Then make sure everything is clean and your oil drain bolt is tight and take it for a small 5 min test ride...then check the oil again.... and you should be just where you want it

Where is the oil filter on my yamaha V-star 1100

On the right side of the bike (right side when ou are sitting on it) just above the rear brake lever behind a small circular plate. remove the plate and the oil filter is inside (you will easily see it). Warning---on these bikes you have to drop the front exhaust header and right floor board in order to change the oil filter unless you install a after market oil filter relocation kit. If you plan on changing your own oil it is highly recommended to install this relocation kit.

Clutch adjustment

Sounds like time for an oil change. Dirty, gritty oil is causing the clutch plates to grab. Change the oil filter along with the oil. Ride the bike fifty miles or so then change the oil again. No new filter this time. Doing this will flush out the dirty oil.

The bike is 10 years old. It is probably time, (or past time), to replace the clutch cable if yours is not hydraulic. Most cables never seem to get lubricated. The oil and the cable are low cost items and you can't go wrong in doing the service.

Jumping about in first gear

Sounds like time for an oil change. Dirty, gritty oil is causing the clutch plates to grab. Change the oil filter along with the oil. Ride the bike a hundred miles or so then change the oil again. No new filter this time. Doing this should flush out the dirty oil.

The bike is 10 years old. It is probably time, (or past time), to replace the clutch cable. Most cables never seem to get lubricated. The oil and the cable are low cost items and you can't go wrong in doing the service.

My XT 600 won't start up again after it's been running for awhile

Drain your carb. bowl to see whta comes out,clean your air filter &oil it with filter oil K&N,check the wires on your coil
