If your bike is fuel injected, there is nothing you can do. You must take it to a shop and let them set the idle speed. If it's equipped with a carb, remove the air cleaner cover and look at the square top on the carb. Just to the right of that cover is a screw, the throttle stop screw. Turn this screw clockwise to increase the idle speed. It should idle at about 1000 RPM.

Good Luck

What causes a 2002 harley road king with fuel injection to backfire at idle?

Looks like a leak at intake manifold. Start the engine ,spray a Carb cleaner on the manifold close to the Cylinder's and if you hear a change on idle ,then you have an intake leak.....

Harley problems

Do not know about the speedo part at this juncture. What codes are set??? Idle problems could be IAC if EFI, not sure what year it is as people often choose a model and year in the initial caption but it is often not what the bike is.

02 roadking surges and stalls

You do not say when it surges or stalls. You should first see how the power commander is progarmmed as it may have a problem for the mapping of a certain rpm range etc.

2003 HD Road King - starts fine, idle normal. Once it is warm, idles at 2000 rpm. Does not come back down, even after riding for an hour or two. Only idles normal when cold. Help??

If you bike is equipped with a carburetor, the idle stop screw is located at the top of the carb on the right side. Counterclockwise turn slows the idle speed.

If you bike is fuel injected, a dealer or shop will have to set the idle speed electronically.

Shuts off spits and sputters

Check for vacume leaks first. Rubber lines..gaskets to carbs ect. Also remove and blow out your fuel line to tank and change out filter. Hope this helps.:)
