My 2000 Honda Valkyrie won't start. Replaced the battery, replaced the starter button assembly (whole right side switch assembly) with a new part directly from Honda. When I turn the key everything turns on as it should, and when I press the starter button the headlight dims a bit like it wants to start but nothing happens at all. I checked the main 50amp fuse and it's good. All other fuses appear to be in good shape. I also recently changed the alternator because it was bad, the one thing I did do while replacing the alternator I hooked up the battery to check that everything worked and it did before I put all the covers on and I accidentally forgot to disconnect the battery again and touched a live wire and it blew my 50 amp fuse which I replaced. Any help you guys can give me would be greatly appreciated.

I've got a problem with my 2000 Valkyrie Thought my battery was dead, charged it. I have no power at all. I've changed all the fuses in the fuse box still no power at all. I am not sure where the main fuse is.

First check battery connections...
then check Ignition fuse
then check your interlocks...in neutral, sidestand up....kill switch to RUN...also try using clutch in case the neutral switch is not grounding the starter circuit properly.

99 valkyrie will start but I have to push starter button two or three times before it will start.I have tighten everthing up,new battary.

Either you have a defective starter button in the right switch assembly. Take the right switch assembly apart and clean the starter button mechanism. Inspect the button for burning or melting. If damaged replace the right switch assembly. You may have a burnt or corroded contact bar in your starter solenoid. In this case you will have to replace the starter solenoid assembly. Or one last possibility, if you hold the starter button and hear the solenoid click then (while still holding the starter button) gently tap on the starter with a plastic hammer. If this tapping on the starter causes it to start spinning then you need to install a new set of starter brushes into the starter.

My bike won't start(lights light ,horn works push starter button nothing no power to spark plugs ??? i belive one of the starter interlocks must be stuck in an open position possibly?

Hey, When that happened to me I took the bike half apart and it ended up being the Kill switch. Try rocking it back and forth also if you have contact cleaner flood the switch and let it dry then give it a light spray of wd-40. also check the start switch to be sure it is making contact, bike is in Neutral and the kick stand switch is also working.

V-star 650 won't start and the headlight won't come on. Battery was replaced, new gas put in. now what?

Replace your right switch assembly on the handle bar. Your starter button is dirty or broken and the only way to replace it is to replace the assembly. Your starter button is a two position switch that both turns off the headlight to direct more power to the starter and activates your starter solenoid. Either the right switch assembly has become unplugged from the harness inside the head light bucket or a broken power wire is causing the system to not work. But most likely a dirty or broken starter button is the cause of your problems.

Headlights on 94 gsxr 750 just suddenly stopped workin but light bulbs are not blown.Wanted to know where relays are located on the bike?

Your motorcycle has a two position switch in the starter button. When you push the button in halfway the headlight turns off to give all the electricity to the starter. Push the button in all the way and the starter solenoid activates. You probably just need to clean or replace the starter button/switch. If the button will not work after cleaning, the button is usually only sold with the right switch assembly. You will have to replace the whole right switch assembly.

Honda valkyrie tourer year is 2000. problem is no headlight or spotslights ,,,I did checked the fuse and its ok.

You probably have a bad starter button. It is a two position switch. Push it in half way and it turns off the headlight. Push it in all the way and it powers the starter solenoid. If the button is dirty or broken your headlight wont work. Try cleaning the button. if it needs to be replaced you will have to replace the whole right switch assembly. The spot lights not working depends on how the mechanic wired them into the system. If they were wired to the headlight power source , I believe it was done correctly. Never attach accessories directly to the battery . It bypasses the voltage regulator and wil damage your battery through overcharging.

I can't start my shadow, my battery is great and my fuzes are fine, and my headlights won't turn on, like I said my fuzes are fine, what else could be wrong? My friend says its the stater

Your starter button is a two position switch. Push the starter button in half way and the head light goes out. Push the button all the way and the solenoid engages the starter. Try cleaning the starter button or replace the right switch assembly.

Bike wont start from hand controls and headlight wont turn on the bike will run but to start it i have to pop start it

If the battery is in good shape and fully charged - and the headlight fuse is not blown, then I suspect that the starter button is at fault. The starter button does two things when you press it: engages the electrical circuit that causes the starter relay to trip, and, at the same time, cuts power to the headlight.

It could be that the contacts inside the handlebar mounted starter button are dirty. You can try spraying some electrical contact cleaner in there - but you are likely going to have to replace the whole right side handlebar switch assembly.
