Because the motor is not running, the water has stopped flowing through the system. The heat that has built up in the motor once you have stopped, shows on the temp gauge. If you start the motor, the cooler water that is in the radiator will now flow into the barrells and head of the motor and the temp. will drop.If you sit and run the bike without moving, the same thing may happen. There is no airflow over the radiator. Then the fans kick in..You don't have anything to worry about. You may get a slight water leak from the radiator if it is overfilled, but that will stop once everything is up and running.
Hope this helps

Hi my 2000 Honda odyssey temperature gauge rises to red but shows no signs of the car overheating but while driving everything is normal but this only happens while in idle any suggestions? Need help asap

Make sure your cooling fans come on. If overheating at idle it is likely for the fans to have failed. While driving the air rushing through the grill cools the coolant in the radiator which is probably why it's fine while driving. You shouldn't drive the car if overheating as this will cause damage to the engine. Check fan relays, fuses and fans. If you turn the A/C on the fans should come on.

Overheating gage when stop & go -2004 chevy tahoe

natural for engine temp to rise in Traffic - Until Themostat opens ) cooling fan sensor kicks on fan . But Antifreeze is not just a Cold weather item . Coolant is Absolutely Necessary for Hot Days . You must be full to recovery bottle setting of cold when checked prior to start up . Coolant for your make / model is Reddish - Pink colour and should have a reading of -25 thats negative 25 degrees the Lower the Better even - 50 .. Why ?? - 50 is 50 %% antifreeze / Coolant Concentrate MIX Gives Hot weather cooling Ability or very cold weather starting / winter HEAT .

I had my 2006 grand prix fix 3 times for the tempature gage and stilss the gage goes over the 3 line

I think you should start thinking it might not be the gage itself but >Problem with the wires in the circuit itself Also warm car up take a thermometer & check coolant tempature cross referance with temp gauge in the car

Oven jjw9527aab fan runs continuously even when cool and now shows F2 alarm message

The F2 error code is due to the temp sensor is registering a tempature over 600 degrees. So the reason why the convection fan is continously running is because the ERC thinks the oven is overheated and is trying to cool it down. It is probably a bad tempature sensor or oven relay board. You will need to test the tempature sensor with an OHM meter. They usually will read 1000-1100 OHMS at room tempature. If you get an open read or a incorrect OHM reading then I would replace the tempature sensor otherwise replace the power relay board if the temp sensor is reading correct. But try unplugging the power to the oven for over 10 minutes first and then plug it back in. This will reset the ERC and might fix the problem.

2001 Alero- heat gage does not show heat tempature. Blows warm air.Engine felt cold after a 50 mile trip. Out side tempature 20 degrees fernaheight.

with winter being here you might want to consider having a new thermostat put in to increase the heat in side, but make sure your radiator is full when engine is cold

Problem with my car overheating bad

If the coolent level is good and the reservoir is full or has coolant backing up into the reservoir, then it's a stuck thermostat.

My gages stopped working inside my car no speedometer, oil or tempature gages what could be the problem?

Not sure, but on most newer cars they have fuse for the gauges under the dash you may want to check to see if it's blown
