Theres a cross pattern in the dipstick you dont want to go past the top of the pattern depending on the size of the motor should be less then a liter

always check the manual on your specific motorcycle, it gives you exact amount of oil , you then are not guessing or only using crosshatch on the dipstick to gauge

Do I need a mechnic for changing oil in my chevi

No. The oil is very easy to change. All you need is a filter wrench and a 15 mm. socket, and a drain pan. Get under the truck and the oil filter is right there and the drain plug is in the oil pan. Drain the oil first, then remove the oil filter with the filter wrench. Take your finger and dip it in the oil and put a film of oil on the new oil filter gasket. Then install the new oil filter. Once you install the new oil filter, put the drain plug back in. Then put 5 quarts of new oil in the oil fill.

How minny quarts of oil dose a 96 olds aurora hold

A typical automobile holds 4-5 quarts of oil.....Depends on the size of motor. If changing yourself, Drain out all oil, change filter, put oil plug back in. Put 3- 31/2 quarts back into car. put oil cap on and start car. Let run for 2-3 minutes then shut back off. Wait for a few. Pull out dipstick wipe, put back in then pull out a second time...Now you know how much you need to top off level.

Diagram for changing the oil

you probably won't need a diagram. If you know where the oil pan is. Under the car. There is the oil pan and it has a plug. Put an oil change container under it and remove the plug with a wrench. Let the oil drain out. Replace the plug. You should replace the oil filter too with each oil change. Then after replacing the plug and installing a new oil filter. Put in 4 quarts of oil into the engine by removing the oil cap on top of the valve covers. And your done. check the oil after running the car a while to see if it does not need more oil. Do NOT OVERFILL!! That can ruin the gaskets and an oil leak can occur. I hope this helps you. You can go to autozone .com if you need more info. Just click on the DIY and repair guide.

My oil light is on, i have 39 miles on my gsxr 600. do i need an oil change or do i need to put oil in

Don't listen to the idot that said to change your oil at 39 miles! If you only have 39 miles on your bike and your oil light is on it mean there is low oil pressure so you need more oil in it. Cause the only reason that light goes on is when theres not enough oil in it. Not because you need an oil change. Also the oil change should be done at least every 3,000 miles but I do mine at 2,500. Also When you change the oil for the first time, you want to change the Filter as well. Every oil change there after you dont have to change the filter every time, you can do it every other oil change if you choose to. And always fill it up to in between the lines of your sight glass. and always makesure that after you put oil in it you start it up and for about 30-60 seconds then shut off and let sit for about an hour and add oil as needed.

Oil change

hi mate its very easy to do a oil change basically 1st warm the engine up to make the oil thin so it all drains then you need to take the bottow body off then underneith the engine you will see a plug undo it and drain the old oil into a bowl and then i will reccomend changing the oil filter at the same time as the filter will be dirty and new oil mixed with dirty oil not a good thing then once the oil is empty unscrew the oil filter then on the oil filter put a bit of oil on the rubber seal then screw the new oil filter on and do the plug up tight then unscrew cap on side casing and pour oil in that hole then once the oil reached 1/2-3/4 on the sight glass located on the side casing at the bottom put the filler plug back in and put body back on good luck bud

After my oil change where 5w30 oil was put in engine, there is a tapping noise. i was told that i needed to replace the oil pump and rods because the wrong type of oil was used; it should have been 10w40...

you didnt state the mileage but I am assuming it s probably at least 100K or close to it. When you switch to a lower thickness oil some parts that are worn usually don't have any affect onthem but in this case it sounds like you are experiencing a valve lifter leak down. Provided that the 5w30 you put in was convemntional oil, just drain the thinner oil out and replace with the 10w 40 you normally put in. Also when you go to oil change places they will put the weight of oil that the manufacturer recomends in the vehicle unless you tell them otherwise so make sureyou tell them to put 10w 40 in when you change your oil. the tapping is a hydraulic part leaking down nothing more. swap the oil and the noise will go away, no need to replace the filter just the oil since it was just replaced.

2003 YZ 250 Oil Change

Use 10w40 in the gearbox. Get the oil from your Yamaha dealer along with any filter your bike may need. Some bikes use an oil change as the "filter". To drain oil, get the engine warmed up and turn it off. Put a pan under the gearbox and remove the oil drain plug. Replace the oil plug when the flow becomes a slow drip. Change oil in late spring, the middle of summer and in early fall. Remember to lube the chain and adjust it when needed. Lubricate the cables with liquid graphite. Lastly, install a stock spark plug. Now go for a ride.
