Today I sprayed off the engine, with water of course of my 1994 corvette, drove it 20 miles and stalled the engine at a light. engine would night refire. let it sit for 20 minutes then it fired. Iwas able to get it back home but it will not run without back firing. Prior to today it ran like a top. Have any idea what to try. Thanks Leo

You will have dry all ignition components ... You have a distributor that you can open? Get a drying agent from your auto parts store (spray can) and spray all high voltage wires. Next sunny day, roll the Vette into the sun and leave the hood open all day.

Wet ignition wires may be the cause. Try drying them off, or if they are old, replace them. If you have a distributor, open it and check for moisture in the cap. Dry out any moisture.

Remove the distributor cap. (leave the wires on)
Check the inside of the distributor cap for moisture. When you washed the engine, some water may have condensed on the inside of the distributor cap. It's a pain, but not really a problem. Let it dry for a few hours and see how it does.

94 subaru legacy wagon stalls when engine is warm then starts when cool

Have the battery and alt tested for free at the local parts store.
Tell them what it's doing, and start suspecting a fuel issue.
Could be getting the right amount of fuel but not burning it. (plugs, wires, coil)
Or could not be getting enough fuel.

Still hard to say, so get the charging/power system checked first.
Let me know what you find out as I'm real curious now.

Same happened to a friend and it was the fuel pump....
Same for another friend and it was 2 bad coil packs.

The thermostat is likley stuck open. that means that you are trying to warm the water in the engine block and the radiator also. With the thermostat closed before it allows the water in the block to heat up. When it reaches the desired temp for it to open it then will allow the water from the radiator to flow to the block thus regulating the temp in the block.

1994 corvette

Your engine may look nice but the electronics on it absolutely don't like water. Unplug every connector and dry them out, one at a time and hope for the best. The entire system reads subtle changes in current...water will change those readings enough for the computer to get totally confused. Also, check inside the distributor cap...often water will steam off the engine and condense inside cap causing ignition system to cross-fire.
