SOURCE: uneven front tire wear

I would suggest that the wheel is of centre. check your preload and fork oil. you may also have a weak spring. this will allow one fork to ride higher and cause the wheel to lean to one side.

SOURCE: uneven front tire wear

Idoubt your fork fluid levels have anything to do with uneven tyre wear, depending on where you live dictates how your tyre wears,if you live in uk then you tend to turn right more than left therefore wearing the tyre more on the right and reverse this for anywhere they drive on the wrong side of the road.tyre pressures are important... to check the fork fluid level you need to drain the oil into a measuring jug, compare result to manufacturers recommendation.if you are not mechanically competent do not attemt this as you may get hurt as the fork internals are under load from a spring

SOURCE: Honda FMX 650 - quantity of hydraulic oil

The best way,is to drain a fork leg into a container, and measure the amount. however if you cant do that, start of with about 100ml in each leg, test them out, if to soft, you can always add a little more oil. from memory, a 250ml bottle of fork oil was enough to do both legs on most bikes.

What is the firing order on a 1983 Honda Nighthawk 650?

Instructions
    • 1 Remove the front tire with the crescent wrench and set aside. Remove the nut and axle bolt from the tier and use the hammer to remove the axle bolt from the forks.
    • 2 Remove the securing bolt at the top of the fork on the handle bars. Slide the forks out of the fittings.
    • 3 Place the forks into the oil pan, bottom down, and remove the oil nut. Let the forks drain for ten minutes into the oil pan.
    • 4 Tighten the oil nuts and remove the seal from the fork fitting with a screwdriver. Slide the seal off the fork.
    • 5 Apply oil around the inside of the seal. Slide the seal onto the fork and press into the fitting tightly.
    • 6 Replace the oil in the fork following the manufacturer's recommendation.
    • 7 Replace the forks and the tire following the steps above in reverse order.

I have a 1974 Yamaha 650 XS that has been sitting for about 20 yrs. I am trying to separate the front fork tubes without damaging them so I can have them restored but I am having an issue getting them...

Assuming you have slackened off the fork top nut before removing the fork from the bike, and you have removed the screw in the fork lower, this secures the damper into the fork, next you will have removed the dust cover and seal retaining clip from the top of the leg, undo the fork top nut completly and remove the spring noteing which end of the spring is at the top, for replacment purposes.
Next fasten the lower of the fork into a vice on the flat ( not tubular surface of the fork leg) push the stancion all the way down to the bottom of the leg, then pull up sharply, repeating this in/out action to hammer out the seal from the leg until the seal/ bushes/ and washer have come out, this mat take some quick action movments to remove or separate the leg, forks which have not been appart in some time may need some heat on the fork seal. ARea of the lower leg

Need more horsepower

only one dead sert way to do this is use nitrous oxide!!! (laughing gas)
but you could try (water injection) first that will give a bit more get up and go? and keep the engine cooler,,, most world war two fighter plains had water injection to boost power when they got into a scrap? as nitrous oxide bottols are heavy,, plus if a bullet went through them the pilot got the gigels? ha ha! realy it works try it out!

I would like to know how to change the front forks on my burman

To remove the forks you need to untighten the screws holding the forks in the yoke, then hit the tops of the forks slightly with a wooden hammer to get them out of the yoke.
