Has something to do with you timing and valve adjustement. Get it tuned the way it supposed to. Or just get performance. Its hitting a flat spot because the valve are floating inside the case when it goes too fast and doesn't have the proper performance added to the inside components.Have to have the right components to fit together correctly for the exact way you want your bike to run.
Can you describe what you mean by "flat spot"? Do you mean that there is par of the rev range where there seems to be little power? Turbo engines tend to produce bursts of power when the turbo spools up. Does the "flat spot" happen at low revs? If so, your turbo isn't spooled up yet. As you accelerate and it fires up you feel a rush of power. just a guess, provide more details and we'll try to help
Full disassemble of carbs is needed. Thorough cleaning on jets and airways, vacuum and pilot screw adjustment must be done too. Check the spark plugs for lean mixture indication and replace them if necessary.
power commanders good for getting rid flat spots and such even without mapping think it also may be something to do with balance of carbs that may have created flat spot just bring it back to them
Is it carbed or injected?
I suspect its a late bike with some sort of immobiliser issue..or perhaps the engine ecu is in limp home mode to save engine damage..
what bike exactly is it?
The float level in your carb probably needs to be adjusted. If the gasoline level in your float bowl is borderline low, your bike may run fine when level. But on the incline, the gas level at the jet may be too low causing your engine to be starving for gas. The solution is to remove the bowl and bend the tab on the float that pushes the valve up so that the gas won't shut off until the level is higher. If you are a good mechanic, you may try this yourself. If not, take it to someone who can do this for you.
i have just had the same problem with my 99 srad 600. there is only one soloution to this and it is not a dyno, that just makes thing worse, the flat spot just off idle is due to it beign on carbs and i have put slightly shorter inlet tracts onto the carbs which helps them breeth easier this coupled with a new front sproket which is one tooth less than standard will get you over the stutter problem and will help the bike at lower revs as the sproket inceases the rev range right from the off throttle position, but be careful as the lower gearing makes for some good wheelies if your over keen on the gas. lol.
