All Honda VT1100C models require 449cc (15.2 oz) of fork oil per fork leg.
However, the VT1100C2 requires 482cc (16.3 oz.) of fork oil per leg.
Honda recommends using SS-8 fork oil.
For the 1982 GL1100 the front fork capacity is 9.8 oz. (290 cc) per tube. The recommended fork fluid is Automatic transmission fluid (ATF) or the equivalent 5 wt fork oil. 1980-1981 GL1100 7.0 oz. (220cc) ALL GL1000 5.8-6.1 oz. (170-180 cc)
front fork capacity is 285 cc per leg, but you need to take the spring out and fully extend the forks and measure 140mm from the top and thats where your oil needs to sit.
The oil can be drained removing the NEAS system valves ( 2 allen bolts ).
System contains 456 cc ( 15.4oz.) oil in each leg.
the oil-level measured from the top of the COMPRESSED leg is 107mm.
To measure:
- have an oil-suction pump
- Make a tube with a stopper at 130mmfrom the end.
Drill a little hole ( 3mm ) at 107mm (4.21in) of the stopper.
More oil will tighten the suspension, less will soften it a bit.
Oil type: SAE15
