Could something be caught? Instead of the bearing being seized?

I don't think there is any play in the wash tub

The tub does feel like there is something catching it because it will turn slighty, then it feels like it's getting caught up., then I can turn it the other way until it get's caught up again. I'm told not to touch it because I'm a 30 year old single mom. But I fixed it once when there was a drain problem and I think I can do it again, with help of course. Anyway you've been great help. What should I do if something is caught?

:) Marisa (:

Front load washer wont spin

Check for drain obstructions. Might be something caught up in or near the drain pump. If water drains out of unit with no problems, check the belt. Motor could be issue as well. If you reach inside the tub where you put your clothes in, and grab one of the paddles, see if the tub itself moves back and forth and up and down. If you have a lot of free play or movement with the tub test, sounds like your spin bearing may have failed. If it is the spin bearing, not worth fixing.

Tub seems to be dragging, does this machine have bearings?

Yes it has a main bearing / seal assembly. I would be looking for something caught in or between inner & outer bowl.

Bosch maxi classic wae18060au

See if it will move by hand, if not something may be caught in inner bowl or something caught between inner & outer bowl. Could have main bearing seized or motor bearing seized. If spins by hand check wires to motor, motor windings for open circuit & motor control board.

My Maytag Nuptune fav6800aww won't spin. I followed the directions to replace the clutch, but that didn't fix it. The tub will not rotate in either direction. I have taken the transmittion out and it...

Maybe the Outer Tub bearings are seized. With the Clutch Pulley removed the wash basket should rotate within the Outer Tub bearings with one finger in CCW and CW direction does it?

"" I followed the directions to replace the clutch, but that didn\'t fix it. "" Was it my post Clutch Fix post? If your FAV6800A used the Upper Bearing One-Way roller clutch bearing ring do you feel on reassembly the parts are seated correctly.

What are the first two digits of you s/n of your machine?

Was the Clutch Pulley One-Way Roller clutches bearing rusted up severely or only slightly? I'm trying to get a feel for a Tub Seal leak........Rich

Maytag neptune top load bearings seized in drum pulley , freed bearings and greased.now drum spins free but hard time to start turning is it possible motor trouble ?

I’m an owner not a repair person but I will pass on my FAV6800AW Clutch issue experience.

With an empty Wash Basket open the lid and with one finger (pinky) you should be able to rotate the wash basket with little rotational resistance. I’m not sure how else to describe normal Wash Basket CCW rotational resistance in the Spin direction of the system. In my eyes any more resistance than that would indicate some binding in the system. If the roller clutches were seized as you describe I would replace the clutch but lets discuss further.

How much CCW rotational resistance did you detect with the clutch out? Did you follow this post for the One-Way Roller clutch bearing clean up? In that post I discuss checking for CCW rotational resistance prior to removing the Clutch. Does your FAV6800AW use the upper Roller Clutch Bearing Ring as I show in this post? If so what condition was it in?

The Outer Tub bearings may be adding to the CCW rotational resistance (Leaking Tub Seal). You could remove the belt off the Clutch pulley the motor should spin freely by hand and I feel you will find that is not causing the increased CCW rotational resistance with the above check.

I would drop the clutch out again and check the Wash Basket CCW rotational resistance. That would give me a feel if the Outer Tub bearings are adding to the CCW rotational resistance. If the Wash Basket rotates CCW freely I would replace the clutch with the one I recommend in this post.

Post back if you have questions and maybe we can have another forum member speak to this issue. I could be over looking something in troubleshooting. Good Luck

If you have removed the drive belt from the rear pulley and the inner spin basket does not spin freely, you either have a drum bearing seized up on you, or something binding between the spin basket (stainless steel tub) and the outer tub shell. First, you need to reach inside the wash tub with the washer empty. Place the palm of your hand at the 12 o'clock position and push straight up. There shouldn't be any play in the spin basket. If you can feel the basket wobble up and down, you have either a bearing problem, or a spin basket support (spider arm) broken on the back of the spin basket. If there is no play at all, you probably have something caught. Small articles of clothing can sometimes get pulled between the tubs and usually ends up around the support shaft in the rear. This will obstruct the basket from spinning freely and could eventually cause damage to the drive motor, spin basket and/or tub bearings. You can use the instructions for replacing a rear tub bearing that I have posted under my Tip and Tricks for instructions on how to disassemble and inspect the tub. The bearing may not be bad, but you still need to check to see if anything is binding the spin basket against the tub shell and inspect the spin basket supports. Unfortunately, you have to disassemble the washer to be able to inspect any of these items I mention. I hope this helps you.
