There are two one before the catalytic converter which measures the fuel air mixture that goes into the combustion chamber and then one after the catalytic converter that checks burnt hydrocarbon emissions and further checks the mixture.
You may contact the manufacturer, download manuals, check fuel/oil ratios, order parts, find your local service center, and view other resources using these links:
O2
sensor monitors the air fuel ratio consistently. It makes sure that the engine
receives optimum fuel mixture all the time. If the mixture will be rich, i.e.
more fuel and less air, it will signal the ECU to reduce the fuel supply and if
the mixture will be lean, the fuel supply will be increased.
You may contact the manufacturer, download manuals, check fuel/oil ratios, order parts, find your local service center, and view other resources using these links:
yes, the o2 sensor will pick up a lean condition and command the injectors to richen up. you must fix any exhaust manifold leak to assure the 02 sensors will get the correct air/fuel mixture.
Black smoke is from to much fuel. You may have a bad 02 sensor. Have the codes checked first, even if the light doesn't stay on. 02 sensors are what help regulate the fuel mixture. if one or all is running lean, it is telling the computer to add more fuel. before you replace the sensor/s check for vacuum leaks.
