2008 Saturn vue won't turn over. Replaced starter but still nothing. Checked battery and everything else is working properly just won't do nothing when u turn key but click.

bad batteries can charge up to twelver volts. Monitor voltage while crankung if it drops to or below 8 volts you do have a bad battery. It could be a solenoid switch although that starter should have come with a new one. Baterry terminals can corrode to the point that that they will not cobduct. Also ignition switch could have broken..
Last but perhaps the first thing to check is a coolant leak... A cylander full of antifreeze coolant will prevent the engine from turning over.
The new starter we put on a friends car did turn the engine over bending a rod and breaking a piston. Had we know a cylander was full of water we could have done head gaskets instead he spent four thousand dollars on a full overhaul.

Can you put a 5.4l cylender head on a 4.6l motor with a 4.6 cylander head

Obviously if you have the bad head off, you can compare the two. The extra .8 could be made up in piston stroke. So if the holes all line up, I would go for it as long as the two match in all aspects.

Water in all cylanders

Sounds familiar. If the engine oil is too full, oil will splash into the spark plug openings. Then, condensation will sit on the oil shorting the plugs. Be sure not to overfill. Also, the valve cover gasket has an inside seal. Once again, oil will partly fill the spark plug hole if the gasket is bad. There is a large hole in back of the valve cover leading right to the plugs. Be careful not to rinse the engine. Gaskets seal the plugs but water can sit on the plug openings.

How do i tell if the heads creaked on a 91 celica

a cracked head or blown head gasket,will cause your vehicle to have a miss in the cylander where the crack is or where the gasket is blown. you can also see coolant leaking if the gasket is blown. you can also see water in the oil,and white smoke come from the exhaust.
to tell for sure that the head is cracked,and not just a blown gasket is to remove the head. you will instantly see if the gasket is blown. if its not,then turn the head upside down and look at the small space between the valves,as this is where 99% of cracks occur.

Have a mechanic look at it for leaks between the intake manifold and the head. Have them run an OBD 2 scanner and check for cylanders misfiring. Probably a bad intake manifold gasket or other broken or cracked hoses/fittings connected to the intake.

When checking for a blown head gasket, one of the most common tell-tale signs is a milky-gray ring around your oil cap. When coolant enters the engine oil through a crack in the head or through a blown gasket, it evaportats and leaves a milky ring around the oil cap. Another easy way to tell is to check your oil dipstick. Change your oil and pull out the dipstick. Make sure that you take note of how far up the dipstick the oil is. Top off your cooling system and fill your cooling resevoir to the top. Screw radiator cap back on and start engine. Run engine for about 20-30 mins. or until it reaches normal operating temperature. Allow engine to cool (engine must cool completely to get accurate oil reading!!). Check oil dipstick again. If the oil has a watery appearence and has risen noticibly up the dipstick, the you probably have a blown head gasket or a warped head. Also look for a dripping, sweet-smelling liquid coming out of your tailpipe. Any of the above symptoms could be the result of a blown head gasket. The easiest way to tell is with a compression meter. This replaces the spark plug and lets you know what compression each cylander is running at. If your compression is abnormally low, then you have a blown head gasket or a warped head. (note: consult repair manual for appropriate compression of each cylander.)

Rear exaust manafold won't move and line up with cylander head.

Are there studs or bolts on the front cylinder head? If there are bolts then secure the rear manifold first.Or replace the rear studs with bolts.

Change head gasket 1974 Datsun 620 pickup

As far as compresion goes it is more important that all cylanders are close to each other than what the actual psi is they should be within about 5 psi of each other. When changing the head gasket on the 620 you need to make sure that you wedge the timing chain so that the chain tensioner does not pop out. If it does you need to remove the water pump and front engine cover to replace it. A 6 inch long piece of wood tapered from about 1 inch to about 1 3/4 inch should work. Other than that it's a very easy and straightforward job. I would recomend that you take the head to a machine shop and have it checked for warp, if the engine has been severly overheated it can cause the aluminum head to warp. I know this from personal experience. If there is some warpage just have the machine shop machine it back to flat so that the new head gasket dosen't leak. If you are getting oil comming OUT of the dipstick tube replace the PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) valveThe 620 is a great little truck and the L16 L18 and L20 engines were all very easy to work on and well designed. The downfall of almost all Datsuns was body rust.

hi view sonic,

if you're not well verse with engines, i suggest that you leave it to the experts,
this is a delicate matter replacing your cylinder head gasket.

you have to remove a lot of things and it takes a lot of experience in doing this.

you only have one cylinder head gasket.

OR you can try tightening the cylinder head bolts using a torque wrench and see if that would solve your problem.

just remove the cylinder head cover and you can tighten the bolts from there.

Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
Drain the cooling system.
Relieve the fuel system pressure.
Remove or disconnect the following:
- Negative battery cable
- Hood
- Accessory drive belts
- Accelerator cable

To install:
NOTE: Refer to Section 1 of this manual for the cylinder head torque sequence illustration. The illustration is located after the Torque Specification Chart.
NOTE: Lubricate the cylinder head bolts with clean engine oil for assembly.
Install the cylinder head with a new gasket. Tighten the bolts in sequence as follows:
Step 1: 58 ft. lbs. (75 Nm)
Step 2: 72 ft. lbs. (98 Nm)

Install or connect the following:
Camshaft

Rocker arms
Valve cover
Timing belt
Front cover
Crankshaft pulley. Tighten the bolt to 87 ft. lbs. (128 Nm).
Intake manifold
Power steering pump
Water pump pulley
Cooling fan
TP switch connector
Exhaust manifold
Heat shield
EGR pipe
Air pump
EGR gas temperature sensor connector
Exhaust front pipe
Distributor
Spark plug wires
Ignition coil connector
Starter motor harness connectors
Oil pressure switch connector
Alternator wiring connectors
HO2S sensor connector
Ground cable connector at the intake manifold, starter and firewall
Engine wiring harness connectors at right wheel housing
Brake booster vacuum line
