Start by checking the stater output from there the voltage regulator output. stater voltage is ac. and should be 3 yellow wires going to the voltage regulator. This voltage will hurt you! It is a good start

Get a test light. Hook clip on - side of battery. Turn on turn signals and ck wires. The light will flash, that is the + wire. If turn signal has only 1 wire hook that to the + wire. The - connection will ground through frame and complete the connection.
Pretty straight forward, each indicator on the fairing has two wires going to them, using the same two wires connect to the replacement indicators, ones is an earth wire the other is the power feed, so it's two wires for two wires. Buy bulb type indicators, LED lights have low resistance and don't flash without added resistor in the system.

i have a 1978 gs1000 it has a cable it did the same thing but i think you may find that there is still a little air in the line look to see if the push rod is worn or just needs to be adjusted
