Hello dragon1slave
First thing to do is make sure it's charging properly. If you have a volt meter, start the truck and hook up the meter at the battery. It should read at least 13V output from the alternator. If you don't
have a meter, most of the chain auto parts stores will check it for free. If that checks out ok, the next step is to check for a draw on the system. You'll need a 12V test light. disconnect the neg.
battery terminal and connect one end of the test light to the neg batt. post and the other to the neg.
batt. cable end. If the light is on there is a draw. Now, to isolate the problem circuit start by removing the keys-the bulb under the hood and the interior light fuse to avoid a false read. if the lights still on start pulling the fuses one at a time untill the light go's out and that fuse will be on the
circuit with the draw. This information is for ford small trucks in general as I did not have a year and model info. Hope it's helpful.
A short most likley in the alternater have someone check the hot post on it for ground with the cable off there should be none
