Hello,
Your CMX 250 has a single camshaft with removable sprocket. The basic procedure is to turn the motor over so that the Top Dead Center ( TDC ) marks line up on the crankshaft and the motor is on the compression stroke ( both Valves are closed ) When the crankshaft is a TDC the timing marks on the camshaft will line up and be horizontal with the cylinder head surface. Now you can remove the camshaft sprocket bolts and pull the camshaft sprocket off of the camshaft. This will allow enough room to slide the camshaft out and remove the sprocket.
Be sure that you put the crankshaft in the TDC mark when you re-assemble the camshaft. It is critical that the camshaft and crankshaft are exactly timed properly or you can cause major engine damage.
Thanks and I hope that this helps.
