The reserve position alows fuel from the bottom of the tank to flow. It sounds like you have crud/water/blockage in that fuel path. Turn the fuel off. Remove the fuel line at the tank. Place a long fuel line on the petcock to drain the fuel in a can. Place the fuel on the reserve position and watch how much fuel flow you have. Now blow back through the line while on reserve to clear the crud and again look at flow. This will let you know if you neeg to remove petcock and clean filter screen
inside tank.
Good Luck

My bike bike runs on main tank even on low fuel..it somtimes shows some missing. I think my reserve tank doesn't work.Any suggestions?

Check the reserve fuel line and the main fuel line to make sure they haven't been switched. I purchased a Suzuki Intruder and was riding all the way to reserve to check the mileage and when I ran out I couldn't start it even though I switched to reserve. Turns out that someone had the tank off to service the air cleaner and had reversed the two fuel lines so the fuel valve was running the bike on the reserve tank tube. so when I switched to the reserve position it was hooked to the taller brass tube in the tank and the gas level was already below it. The tanks just have two brass tubes, one taller than another so gas cannot be sucked below the taller tube when on main and then when switched to reserve it sucks from the shorter tube allowing the remaining gas to be used.

I am owning an Apache RTR 180 bought on August 2010 at Bangalore. From last week I am seeing the fuel gauge in digital display is shown full and continuously bliniking from the time I turn on the engine...

YOUR DIGITAL CONSOLE IS PERFECT..!!
THE PROBLEM IS THERE MIGHT BE A LOOSE CONNECTION IN THE FUEL SWITCH (GREEN IN COLOR) ..
IT IS EASILY VISIBLE IF YOU REMOVE THE SEAT,TRY RECONNECTING IT..
THIS MIGHT SOLVE YOUR PROBLEM

We have a riding mower w/a 18hp 4 cycle onan engine in it. my husband rebuilt it last winter. it runs but oil is coming out of the exhaust. could it be to much oil in the reserve?

Yes. The oil reserve has probably become contaminated with fuel. Check the oil level, if it is over full change the oil and fill to the correct level. Also fit an inline fuel tap and turn the tap off when the mower is not in use. This will prevent a repeat of the problem. Regards Phil.

Sir, i have bajaj pulser 150, i bought in 2007.

Under the clocks are a set of wires. Make sure they are all in place. It sounds like there is a loose connection but once you're moving it fixes itself.

Make sure the earth wires from the battery are secure, a loose or rusty earth wire can cause electrical annoyances.

Hope this helps and vote if you are happy with it.
