More likely it's the stator. with a fully charged battery, check with a meter on dc, battery shold be around 12.7 to 13 vdc. start bike should jump up to around 15 vdc. if it dosen't, statot is bad, if it does or goes much higher, regulator is bad. also check that nothing is touching on terminals of battery when running, like frame or other metal parts, that could drain a battery also.

My craftsman riding mower wont start when i turn the key all i hear is a click ,it has a new starter

Terry,

Sounds as if your battery is drained. Or it also couldbe a the solenoid. You can use a multimeter to test the battery to see if it has the 12v needed to start the engine, also you can use it to test the solenoidto make sure it's relaying the voltage.

If u have a set of jumper cables, u can test by simply hooking them up to another battery source, as in a car battery, and then attach to the mower battery, won't hurt anything..

If you KNOW the starter is good, then it can only be these 2 other things that I have mentioned. Hopefully the starter is not defective...

Why won't my lights work?

Have you checked the wiring to the lights. Sounds like you have a wire that has shorted to ground. Would also explain your battery drain. I'd check the wiring before the ignition switch since it is draining your battery with the switch in the off position.

My 2004 Toyota Matrix will not start, when I turn onver the ignisiton key, nothing happens. The light turns on, radio plays, horn ok and battery voltage is 12,6 volts DC

Do you hear a slight click coming from the engine area??? If not your starter selenoid is bad, and needs replacement. If you do hear a click but the engine is having trouble or slow very slow time turning, then it's your battery. If you hear your starter click, but no turn, then its your starter not turning over. If your instrument lights dim out by alot when trying to turn, then it still your battery which is drain. The battery doesn't completly need to be drain in order for your horn, lights to not work, It could be your battery simply drain and doesn't have enough cranking power to roll over the starter. But in this case issue description, It sounds like it is the starter. Could take it out and bring it to autozone and have them test it out.

Dropping cylinder at 10rpm and possible generator /stater problem

It seems the charging system of your bike is not working
Recharge the battery and thn fit it in the bike and start it and check the charging rate.
Remember with lights 'on' it drains power from the battery butthe charging system of theengine takes over i.e. if its working alright, with your explanation, its for sure the charging system is not functioning.
Chekc the altenator and the rectifier.

Craftsamen 18.5 hp battery keeps draining

Either the battery is not being recharged when the engine is running or there is a current drain when stopped. If you are not knowledgeable about electrical tests you can check for current drain by disconnecting the battery negative cable when not running. If the battery stays charged then you need to find the current drain. To check for no charge when running, turn on the headlights with the key on but engine stopped. Start the engine and see if they become somewhat brighter. If brighter, the charging system works. If not, there is a problem in the charging system which needs to be confirmed with a voltmeter.

Battery drained while riding

Sounds like you either have corroded wires going to your battery or your alternator is not properly charging the battery. Get the bike to an autozone and ask them to put their tester on it.

WONT START

when I tried to start it yesterday it would not start; pushing the ignition causes just one *click* sound and then nothing. The battery is reading 12.65V or so so that seems fine. I did some research and I think it's either along the lines of the spark plug(or ignition area) or maybe water in the float bowls from fueling up(?). I tried it again today and this time there was no *click* sound. I also noticed that the -neutral- and -check engine oil- lights which normally light up quickly at start up take a few seconds before lighting up. Now I think it's more in the electrical section but not exactly sure which area. I'm going to take a look at the spark plug and maybe try to drain any water out, but was wondering if anyone had any other ideas? ,When you press start, the churning sound you (typically) hear is from the starter motor forcibly turning the crankshaft. While the starter is physically turning the engine, the engine is also injecting the fuel/air mixture into the cylinders and firing the spark plugs. If the plugs successfully ignite the incoming fuel/air mixture, the engine will begin turning itself over. If you press the button and nothing happens, or you just hear a click, the starter motor is not cranking the engine. The click you heard was probably the starter solenoid attempting to engage the starter to the flywheel of the crankshaft. The problem is probably the starter. It may be a bad battery. Reading the open voltage with no load on the battery tells you nothing. Put the voltmeter across the battery terminals and read the voltage while holding the Start button.,,,
