Specifically I'm trying to identify the wire on the spark plug coil assembly to which I should connect the signal wire of a Tachometer to. The wire colours are, red, yellow, green/white, and blue.

It says the tachometer wire is Yellow/Green, you do not have that listed. You will find it in the list below, it is highlighted..

Red lights came on 6-8 on the tachometer?

Sue Hanna, What do you mean by this? Do you mean when your Tachometer revs to the 6-8 range, the lights go red? or are they going on all the time? Is this something that just started?

There is red light indicator on the dash in the area of the tachometer. The light looks like a box with an arrow pointing down and a fluid leve waving line. What does that idicate.

This is prolly a chevy and that light is just that a low water level indicator it is saying check your cooliant level. Add anti-freeze not water or you may crack your radiator as it gets colder out.

Red arrow poiting down

If I'm right, and this vehicle is a stick, this model has shift indicator lights. Green arrow points up when its time to shift up, and red arrow points down when you need to downshift. If it does, the tach, which registers the motor rpm's, which controlls the lights, is malfunctioning.

Tachometer is bouncing all over the place at idle

It sure sounds like one of many possibilities but it might have something to do with your coil ...
