My low level fuel light came on and stays on constantly even when my tank is full of gas.

Any idea?

Thanks

You don;t say whether the fuel gauge is reading accurately, or whether it's always on empty. If the gauge is always showing empty, it's most likely a problem with the sending unit in the fuel tank. Check the resistance across the two terminals of the sending unit.

On a C900, the fuel sender level unit is separate from the fuel pump and located on the right side top of the tank, accessible by removing the trunk floor lift up panel (the pump is located on the left side top of the tank.
Possible problems are: electrical line off or broken, float not working (it's fairly delicate); or gauge not working.

Test the resistance of the sending unit with the lines disconnected, the resistance should be 2.6 to 3.8 ohms full tank, 63.3 to 67.5 ohms empty tank; and test for voltage across the top of the sender unit, if no voltage, that's likely the problem!

If the gauge is otherwise reading accurately (showing 'full' for a full tank, etc) then the problem is likely a gauge malfunction and can be simply replaced.

Good luck!

2.5l engine, 5-speed A/T. How many miles can I go after gas light turns on?

It depends on what speed you're driving, if the terrain is hilly or flat, what the ambient temperature is. I haven't seen my low fuel light in ages. Keep in mind it isn't a good idea to run your fuel level so low. The fuel pump is cooled by the fuel (its inside the tank). Running the fuel level very low allows the pump to run above the fuel and not stay cool. I strongly suggest keeping the upper 3/4 tank full as I do. It certainly doesn't save anybody money to run a tank of fuel completely out before refueling. You may fill up more often over a given period of time but you're buying less fuel each time.

Warning light for low fuel stays on

The sensor is part of the fuel pump module inside the gas tank.
The signal is sent to the body computer, so it could be a faulty module or a problem with the body computer.
The circuit would need to be checked with a meter.

The low fuel light stays on even when tank is

Hi: Your Fuel Level Sending Unit That Is Located in Your Fuel Tank Is Probally Bad. BUT before you go to taking the Sending Unit out Of your Tank Check to see if ALL Connections To And From Tank to Gauge are Conected Good. Also You could have a Fuse that Goes to the Sending Unit,in Your Fuse Block.Check And See if You Have A Fuse Labeled Fuel Sending Unit or Fuel Sensor. If you end up Replacing The Fuel Tank Sending Unit Run Your Gas Tank Down To Almost Out Of Gas Before You Start to Remove The Metal Straps Holding Your Tank Up. Cause The Sending Unit Is on Top of Your Tank ,And Your Fuel Pump Is In The Gas Tank As Well. Hope This Has Helped You Please Send Me a Vote on How my Solutions Have Helped You And Also You Can Send Me A Testamony Thank You From the WYOCWBOY

1995 Saab 900 Won't Take A Fill Up

Sorry if this gets posted twice. I have a 95 Saab 900, which I just acquired. I can get only about 4 or 5 gallons in at a time. The best analysis I found was this one where the man pinpoints a stuck valve in the gas tank, and tells of what he did to address it.: http://www.quasimotors.com/9_5_gas_fill_prob.htm

Service light saab 95 vector 04 reg

You need to have it put on a machine for diagnostics. Because it could be any number of things on the service light. The fuel light switch on the inside of the tank has drawed moisture over the years and needs to be replaced. All gas tanks draw moisture or some gas just has some water content. By the way have you ever changed the gas filter? That may cause your engine light to be on and Oil change might too.
