Hi, it is not normaly nessasary to remove the fairing on this model for bulb replacment, the bulb holder is in the middle of the headlight behind a rubber cover, pull off the 3 way plug from the bulb, remove the cover, unclip the wire clip from the bulb and remove the H4 type bulb, some later fuel injection models are more difficult, hope this helps. paul

Do I have to remove the fairing to change the headlight on my suzuki cavalcade LX1400

From the Workshop manual. 1, Remove the front cowl cover (the 3 pieces of chrome that go around the headlight). 2, Remove the right and left main fairings. 3, Remove headlight. 4, Disconnect the socket and remove the rubber cap. 5, Unhook the spring and take the bulb out.
It does not specificially mention to take the windshield off, but when the headlight surround is removed, all the bolts securing the windshield are removed, so YES, it has to come off.

How do i cahnge my front headlight bulb

It is fairly simple to change your headlight bulb. First you need to buy a replacement bulb - typically the auto store will have a catalog with different models for your bulb. (Different brightness usually) My replacement bulb had the model 9004.
DO NOT TOUCH THE GLASS OF THE BULB WITH YOUR HANDS - the oil on your hands will cause the halogen bulb to burn out faster. You should be able to handle just the plastic part in the rear of the bulb.
Remove the old bulb (at the back of the headlight assembly) by twisting off the circular "cap" that keeps the bulb in. You can then detach the bulb socket and remove the old bulb. Insert the new bulb carefully and attach the bulb socket. Then twist the cap back on.
Good luck!

You can change it youself its fairly simple, if you have the right bulbs that is! if you have the hid lights (like mine) good luck on finding the replacement bulbs as they are hard to come by AND expensive! but all you have to do is pry on two the latches that holds the lights in place, disconnect wires, take out bulb, put in new bulb, reconnect wires, repry the latches and go!

Do I need to remove my fairing to replace the headling bulbs?

Hi there,

well you can please follow the below steps -

Remove the Fairing - 1. Unscrew all seven outer fairing fasteners using a Torx driver. These screws are located on the inner fairing near the windshield, the speakers, and the handlebar clamps.
2. Stand in front of the motorcycle. Tilt the outer fairing toward you and hold it firmly. Reach in and disconnect the wire connectors for the headlight assembly by hand.
3. Move the fairing to a work bench to continue the procedure.

Change the Headlights - 1. Remove the wire harness connectors from the back of each headlight that need replacement. Turn the plastic retainer counterclockwise by hand to remove each bulb from its housing.
2. Install the new headlight bulb or bulbs, with each bulb's wider ears on the bulb back plates oriented toward the top. Screw in the plastic retainer rings by hand.
3. Connect the headlight wire harness connectors to the back of each headlight.
4. Move the fairing back to the motorcycle. Reinstall the fairing, battery and seat in reverse order.
Please post comments if you need more help or information.........

Good Luck!!

Thanks

Change headlight

Doing a search I saw your question come up, hopefully this is not an old question. ANyways, under the front edge of your fairing there is a small black rectangular plastic piece held on with 2 screws and two clips. Remove the clips by pulling on the centers, they should come right out, this will give you access to the back of the headlight. There you will need to unplug the headlight and the give the light a turn and it should come out of there. Make sure not to touch the new bulb with your bare fingures as this will shorten the life of the bulb, clean with alcohol if you do, hope this helped.
