Sir/M'am, I have a 1988 Toyota Camry All-Trac 4-door. The speedometer doesn't work. Well, I looked under the hood and found the speedometer cable just hanging there in the breeze due the the fact that someone decided to disconnect it! I have looked and looked and looked some more, but I cannot find where to screw it back on to the transmission(?) The cable is SO short that it just doesn't seem long enough to reach anything that it could possibly connect to. I sure would appreciate anyone who could tell me where exactly to look to find where to re-attach my speedometer cable. Thank you so much. Hope to hear back from ya soon.

It is either broke in half or is missing the other half.it should connect on the transmission or the transfer case.

SOURCE: 1989 Ford F150 Instrument Cluster Problem

Some of the gauges are on the same fuse as the dome light; check the fuses. The other main source of gauge problems for this vintage F150 is the sending units and I don't use the term sending unit lightly, so when you go to the parts store make sure you say you are looking for sending units not sensors (sensors hook to the computer) sending units are of 2 types for this vintage F150, lights and guages you need the ones for gauges, the oil sending unit is about 4 dollars and the coolant temp sending unit for a guage is about the same.

I have 4 fords and you will come to understand that the wiring is a jury rig, all this come out when they are the age of your 1989 PU.

SOURCE: '88 toyota camry rear window stuck in down position

To get to the Window:

Remove Door Inside Handle:
remove screw, slide the handle forward.
Disconnect the control link and remove the handle.

Remove Door Trim with Inner WeatherStrip:
Remove the two screws from the armrest.
Insert a screwdriver between the trim retainers and the door panel to pry it loose.  Eight hidden fasteners. 1 top left side of door.
1 right side about same height as top of armrest. 1 (each side) about same height as bottom of armrest. 1 on each corner bottom. 1 bottom in middle.  1 on left side between bottom corner and the previous at about lower armrest height...

Remove Service Hole cover.
Remove Door Glass Run.

Remove Division Bar (upper window section divider):
Remove the two screws under the weatherstrip
Remove the bolt.
Pull out the division bar.

Remove the Window Glass:
Place the glass in the door cavity.
Remove the two glass channel mounting bolts.
Remove the window glass by pulling it upwards.

You now have access to the Power Window Regulator; possible replacement of motor etc.

What type of 'things' have you tried for fixing the window and restoring operation?

SOURCE: 1990 toyota 4 runner. Gas smell under the hood

If you cannot find a leak then it is probably running too rich if you are also having a rough start and or rough idle. You can find out if it has been running too rich by checking any one of your spark plugs...it will be coated with a lustrous black residue and/or smell like gas. At that point you will have to change them.

You can also try replacing your PCV, a clogged PCV can also allow that type of smell to escape past it's grommet into the engine bay instead of recirculating it back into the system.

Where is all the fuses located in a 1988 Toyota camry

Fuses for lights, radio, etc is located on the kick panel just to the left of the clutch. Difficult to see and reach so you have to get your head right down by the pedals. Fuses for things like the fuel pump, etc are located under the hood usually towards the front of the car on the drivers side.

Best to you.

How to change speedometer cable 1988 toyota corolla

you have to remove the speedo unit on the dashboard front of your steering wheel. you must be careful not to brake anything. then turn it slightly on the left and you will see the speedo cable connector in the center of the unit, Unplug it,it is easy, the go in the engine compartment on the gear box side and you will see the speedo cable ended on top of the gear box close to firewall and you have to unscrew the end and slowly slowly pull the cable coming off the fire wall from the driver's side by pulling as well a rubber sealer on the firewall. renew it and go backwards fitting.

look for vacuum leaks under the hood, or disconnected sensors, etc.

Do you have any engine codes on this vehicle?

Is it a 4 cyl. or 6 cyl. Toyota Camry?

Speedometer is erratic

It sounds like the core of your speedometer cable is rubbing the outer housing. The speedometer cable runs from the inst panel, thru the firewall, and onto the side of the transmission that faces the driver. This is not a hard job to do, but, when replacing the cable, take care to not break the ears off of the part that hooks on to the back of the speedometer.

Don't think the fuel pump is working, can't hear it, in a 1988 toyota camry.Where is the fuse or relay for it. Reply to [email protected]

Generally it is in the middle of the firewall under the hood near the windshield and generally has a fuse in it or relay. I don't have my info on that vehicle here so not sure. If there is a fuse box under the hood on the drivers side it could be in there as well.
