I don't have a 5th gear on my 2004 Yamaha Vstar 1100 Classic!

If you mean the engine just revs and there is no drive, maybe it has a gear selector issue. The 5th gear is like an overdrive.
I would take it to a Yamaha repair shop for advice.

I purchased a new YahamaYZF-R15 on 18Th March 2010, did all the servicing at your approved dealer, at the prescribed intervals. On Oct 11th 2010, the m/c refused to start , took it back to your service...

Any device can fail prematurely, Yamaha should back you up if they ever want to sell you another bike. I would contact the factory district managers and go up from there, motorcyle mags too, some TV stations News depts have a troubleshooter/ombudsman type deal, newspaper may also, good luck. read the warranty in fine print.
