The answer to that question is TOTALLY different depending on which engine your Gran Prix is equipped with. The choices are:

> V6-3.8L VIN 2
> V8-5.3L VIN C
> V6-3.8L SC VIN 4

This is really must know information - especially if you are asking somebody for help with your engine, engine accessories, or engine control systems.

Your motor is a V6 3.8L-FI

You normally can find the diagram on a sticker on the underside of the hood directly above the alternator on a 3.0 OHV motor 2002 Ford Taurus. I copied one from the Internet and taped it above the headlight on my car so it was easier to view and use. I dont think so, the 8th digit is the engine code and they are different. I'm glad you put the VIN numbers up, good thinking ; )

but what's the VIN "B" ?

VIN B refers to the engine identification , the eighth digit in the VIN Code , if the eighth digit in the vin is B it identifies the engine as being a 4.9 liter V8 port fuel injected engine .
