I just purchased the vision trimax semi integrated bars. my local lbs called and said the sramm tt500 brakes arent compatible, becuase they are internal routed, and the bars are externally routed. i went down to take a look, and he showed me where there are no holes for the brake cables to exit, he said it could be possible that they forgot to drill the holes. has anyone seen this problem. thanks

True - If you are using a TT brake lever that straight routes the cables internally such as the SRAM, Bontrager and Profile ABS then you can not use those levers with your specific base bar.

The Trimax model you have is also not well suited to drilling for internal as there is not enough internal hollow space. THEY DID NOT FORGET TO DRILL HOLES, these bars were not intended for internal routing.

The simple solution is too change your brake levers. The Profile Quickstop 2 are excellent levers and route externally or if you want the same shape as the SRAM go with Cane Creek Carbon levers.

If you want internally routed cabling, you will have to buy a different bar set-up. If you need additional help on this, This is exactly what I do for a living. www.hypercat.com or my blog www.hypercatcycling.wordpress.com

Testimonial: "great, thanks for the advice, i will purchase some different brake levers."

Is there any way to replace the gear shifter?

there are lots of different shifters out there of different qualities and brands. When replacing a shifter, you should keep in mind that on most modern bikes (bikes built since the 1990's) the shifter is integrated with the chain and rear cogs and they need to be compatible to achieve proper shifting. Without any more details about your set up I recommend going to your LBS (local bike shop) and get their advice. Just as you wouldn't put Ford parts into a Chevy the same holds true of your bike, you need to make sure the parts are compatible and depending on the age of the bike they may no longer be made and you will have to upgrade your parts, this may not be worth the value of the bike overall, thus it is best to consult your LBS.

I have a 78 tt500 and I have just put on a lighting kit from kedo.and have also put on a front brake perch from an xt so that the brake light works.as the bike has no battery and is stock standard how do I...

All I can say about it is Motor out of the frame. One just have to do a compression test before pulling the motor. Not real good. If not satisfied pour a bit of oil in the sparkplug hole and tested again, almost 130 lbs. Top end time. When the oil will be drained the oil from the frame, the first thing out was several ounces of water.

What kind of headset do i need for a 2011 felt q520. Have a cane creek on an old trek and thought I would switch them over, but the felt head tube seems to be a little bit wider in diamater.

Your Felt q520 uses a Semi-Integrated 1 1/8 inch headset. These headsets are known under various names such as zero-stack and low-profile. The cane creek on your old trek is most likely a conventional threadless headset. The standards are not compatible.

Please purchase a semi-integrated 1 1/8 inch headset and have a bike shop install it for you as pressing the cups into and out of the frame requires special tools and if done improperly can destroy the frame.

Will PS3 games play on PS2? Thank you

most ps3's unfortunately arent backwards compatible, however the 60gb consoles were made to be so. otherwise they can have chips put in them by people while being semi-legal is cheap and works well. so either have the 60gb console, or get a shark chip from your local supplier.

Drivers side tail light

Remove the tail light, then the grey bar with all the lights by removing the two screws at the top and bottom. play with the light socket that dosen't work and chances are that it is cracked and broken. If it is broken then the contacts within are not making contacts becuase the black plastic socket is used to hold the contacts together. If you are handy, you can tear open the grey bar and solder the contacts together, then epoxy the bar back together. Or, find, purchase and replace the grey light socket bar.
