Where can i find some spare parts for the cylinder head, gasket and cylinder rings CANYON 500 2000 thanks for your time

The following excerpt from the service manual explains the different valve cover gasket options. I've ordered these before (direct from kohler authorized service center), but as you, I also see none of the typical parts sites list the 3 choices. If the ones you have had RTV and no O rings then you use RTV, otherwise you'll need to contact Kohler or a local Kohler authorized service center.

From the service manual;
Three valve cover designs have been used. First type
used a gasket and RTV sealant between cover and
sealing surface of cylinder head. Second type had a
black O-ring installed in a groove on underside of cover
and may have metal spacers in bolt holes. Latest design
uses a yellow or brown O-ring, with bolt hole spacers
molded in place. Tightening torque differs between
gasket and O-ring style covers. Kits are available for
converting to latest O-ring type covers. Differences are
pointed out in following installation steps.
1. If using gasket or sealant type cover, prepare sealing
surfaces of cylinder head and cover, refer to Tools
and Aids for approved sealants. Always use fresh
sealant. Using outdated sealant could result in
leakage. With O-ring type covers, make sure sealing
surfaces are clean.
2. Make sure there are no nicks or burrs on sealing
surfaces.
3. For covers requiring RTV sealant, apply a 1.5 mm
(1/16 in.) bead to sealing surface of both cylinder
heads, install a new cover gasket on each, then
apply a second bead of sealant on top surface of
gaskets. For O-ring type covers, install a new O-ring
in groove of each cover. Do not use gaskets or RTV
sealant.
4. Locate cover with oil fill neck on same side as
removed and install lifting strap in original position.
With O-ring type covers, position cover on cylinder
head. If loose spacers were used, insert a spacer in
each screw hole. On both types, install four screws
in each cover and finger tighten.
5. Torque valve cover fasteners to proper specification
using sequence shown.

Hi,
If you've got oil on your spark plugs it's usually a sign of a cylinder-head gasket problem, or a piston rings problem.?
Neither of them are cheap to fix.
If you take it into the shop, they can do a compression test on each cylinder to see if there's a particular problem.
A good sign that it might be the head-gasket is getting water in the oil, which usually leaves a white/grey trace on the inside of the oil filler-cap.
If your engine has done a really high mileage, or it hasn't really been serviced properly, the rings are favourite.
You can't repair it, you can only do a major strip-down to replace the damaged parts.
Since it's a 12 year old car, I might be most economic to keep on running it as it is, for as long as it lasts & then junk it or sell it for spare parts.?

If the cylinders are next to each other, very good probability that the head gasket failed between those cylinders. If the low pressure cylinders are not adjacent to each other, probably valves damaged or not seating. Usually, rings will all wear evenly (unless damage in a cylinder) and the compression will go down fairly evenly over all cylinders.

This has to be because of a mechanical problem in the engine. Possible sources are the timing belt is broken (one indication is the starter spins the engine faster than normal, because the camshaft that opens and closes valves is not turning with the crankshaft), or the head gasket has failed (from overheating as the most likely cause), or badly worn piston rings and/or valves not sealing well (common on high mileage engines).
Compression is built up in the upper part of the cylinder where combustion occurs, so leaks or lost compression are due to valves not sealing, or head gasket that seals the cylinder head to the engine block-sometimes the aluminum cylinder head can warp due to overheating, and the head gasket no longer can maintain a seal. Or also the piston rings are worn so bad that compression will leak past them into the crankcase. For valves or head gasket, the cylinder head has to be removed and repaired. For the rings, the engine has to be rebuilt entirely.
First check if the timing belt is still intact.

The most common cause for a misfire is a bad igntion coil - each cylinder has a coil. I would find a different repair shop.

broken/worn piston ring(s). Each piston has 2 rings. These can be replaced by the DIY mechanic by
1) removing head of engine (remove head gasket - you'll replace it), then
2) manually wind the engine (with a ratchet wrench & socket) til the piston in question pops up
3) remove both rings (with ring pliers - available from any auto parts store)
4) install 2 new rings (with a ring installation collar - available at any auto parts store)
--- choose ring installation tool to the correct size for your pistons.
5) re-install head of engine (replacing head gasket)

Note that this procedure preserves the engine timing, so you need not reset it.

You will need a complete engine gasket set as well as the rings of course. You do have the hones and other special tools to do this job, correct?

The seals in the valve guides are going bad or the cylinder head is not down tight > letting oil into the cylinder, or you have a bad head gasket and "O" ring seal. The problem could be any one of the three causes noted above.

Try tightening down the cylinder head. It may fix the problem. If not then the fix is to pull the cylinder head and inspect the head gasket and "O" ring seal if one is present. If the gasket is dirty and oily then replace the gasket & "O" ring. Consider lapping the valves while the head is off. This will give the valve face and valve seat a fresh mating surface thus providing more power.

If the gasket is clean and dry then the shop will need to replace the valve guides. Be sure they also lap the valves.

There are only four ways for oil to get to the spark plug. Bad head gasket, bad rings on the piston, Cylinder scored or warped, and bad valve seals.

• Start with the most likely, bad head gasket. When they rebuilt the engine they could have left out an oil seal 'O' ring. Check the head bolts. Did they tighten the top end down tight? Are you seeing oil on the outside of the head and cylinder? When the cylinder is firing properly, do you hear any head gasket leakage?
• Do a compression check on both cylinders. This should tell if rings and valves are ok. Does the bike smoke most all the time when running properly? Does it only smoke when first started and when pulling away from a stop light? Bad rings will smoke all the time. Bad valve seals will smoke when starting out.
• Scored cylinders are best checked with the head removed. Warped cylinders can only be checked with the head removed and by using a cylinder hone. The hone will reveal any low areas.

Chances are slim that you can avoid pulling off the cylinder head. Best wishes.
