What is the running level and type of oil for 2005 Yamaha royal star touring deluxe

There is a round sight glass on the right side of the motor down low, near the front - you'll probably have to get on your hands and knees to see it. The bike must be held up vertically (not on the side stand) so you'll need someone to hold the bike up. It should also be level front to back and the oil level should be at about the halfway point between the top and bottom of the glass. Oil type recommended by Yamaha is SAE20W40. The site www.venturerider.org is a good resource for information on the Royal Star bikes. Be sure not to use automobile oil as most of those have "energy conserving" additives that will quickly ruin your clutch!! Stay with motorcycle specific oils to be on the safe side.

My 93 rm 250 started smoking heavy and loss power and is shooting oil in my air filter box

if a four cycle engine I would say either you have a lot of work ahead or engine replacement. The only way to find out is boroscope the cylinder to see for piston damage. or total teardown for rod damage. I think you blew it up.

the carbs sound like your speed problem.as for the oil it sounds like the oil pump has malfunctioned and that could be a very costly repair, not so much the pump but the damage to the motor

How fast can you ride the m50 w/o over reving the

Motorcycles and cars are designed so you can't over rev the engines in high gear. Air resistance will keep your speed low enough so the engine can't over rev. However, in a lower gear, you CAN over rev. If you don't have a tachometer on the bike, read your owners manual for suggested top speed in each gear. Or do a Google search for your bike and and "speed" and "gear".

I have a 1999 vulcan. gear for oil unit exploded and seized engin

Yes, it is possible. This has happened to others through the years and the problem is usually caused by a lack of oil and oil filter changes. Dirty oil can plug up the oil system and cause the bike to seize.

1988 yz 250 ,lacking power,spitting oil,possibly power valve?

More than likely the majority of the problem is related to poor compression pressure. When was the last time the engine was re-built (a new top end)?

I would suggest evaluating the condition of the piston, ring and cylinder. Replacing the piston and ring and won't set you back much if the bore in the cylinder is good and it will definately perk your bike back up.

Clean that air filter too - a plugged filter will cause the bike to run rich, too.
