New clutch in 2010 but still can't shift properly; sticks between **** changes

  • Anonymous Nov 05, 2010

Can you tell me more? I have a 1983 Mazda RX7 too and I suspect your linkage is out of adjustment. But, to be sure can you tell me if it sticks in all gears or just some of them? Thanks

You clutch needs bled better, i'm currently going through this now. If bleed your clutch hydrolics, and after a few days it starts sticking again, you will need a new clutch master cylinder and slaves cylinder. About $70 at autozone. Make sure when you bleed it you get NO AIR not even little bubbles coming out of the bleeder. Bleeding the cluch is much more difficult that bleeding the brakes.

Why does the shifter stick while shifting gears?

synchros may be going out. check fluid level and make sure you use the proper fluid if you change or fill it. also check if applicable check the clutch master cylinder fluid level if it is low check for leaks either at the master cylinder or the slave cylinder.

My stick shift will not change gears while truck is on but will when off. What can I do?

Your description says ford escort but you refer to a truck. If this is a truck, I'd say your slave cylinder is gone. Sometimes you can get some more time out of them if you bleed the clutch system, but I'm not sure what make and model you have.

2009 BMW 650i hard down shift

Guess I must assume this is a stick shift and that what you mean is it is hard to move shift lever. I would start by changing the trans fluid and insuring the clutch system has no leaks and is working properly.

1989 jeep wrangler wont shift gear and clutch gone loose

Get the clutch slave cylinder and master cylinder looked at.One of the 2 has failed. If the pedal goes to the floor or is very loose, this is very likely the cause. Not an expensive fix.Hope this helps

How do i check if it needs oil on the manual transmission because the shifts are hard to change when running or is there something else to do beside a new clutch already done

Hard shifting may be caused be the clutch not releasing properly. If you have a new clutch your problem might be caused by your hydraulic clutch release system. When stopped and idling you should be able to shift gears without grinding.Reverse grinding may indicate a clutch release problem. You should have some clutch pedal travel up from the floor before you feel it engaging. The oil fill check is either at the speedo or a plug at the axle shaft level.Be sure to use factory recommended fluid.Gear oil is not a proper fluid.

Manual clutch

If it is a brand new clutch, it's not broken in yet, which is why it "sticks". Give it some time, though, and it will stop "sticking". It took a half mile of stop and go traffic for mine to stop doing that with my new performance clutch.
