My wife and I have two bmw r1200c's a 2000 and a 2001. Both ran fine un til the battery died on the wifes. replaced the battery with one from a battery shop. Difference was BMW battery was a 12v 19ah, the replacement was a 12v 20ah, tried to start hers with new battery and fuel pump did'nt run. Bike turns over fine, lights work, no fuel pump. I figured I'd try it in my bike(the battery), in my bike the fuel pump didn't run either. Could the battery have failed the pump?

No, very unlikely that the battery has anything to do with this problem

When you changed out the battery, did you remove the fuel tank completely or just prop it up??

There are two fuel lines (supply, return) and an electrical connector for the fuel pump that must be disconnected when you remove the tank.

I would suggest taking a close look on the RHS of the tank near the seat and ensure that the fuel pump connector is properly seated and that the fuel lines are properly connected.

Good Luck!

Hi, that is either a connection problem to the batteries or ( and ) a connection problem to the rear axle, remove the axle and you will still 4 connectors , convince your self that these connections are good..

IT could be the controller breaking down but i doubt it...

You are throwing away money by replacing g parts that are likely just fine. Check for an ecu relay. My wife's 06 has an IPDM/ecu relay issue that will cause the vehicle to just die. It gets corrosion inside the contacts and cuts power to the computer. I had already purchased a spare for a couple dollars. Wife was close to home and car died, started back and was acting up. Swapped the relay in about 2 minutes and no issues since (several months now). Sometimes a small part can cause big problems. You can't just throw money at everything hoping to fix it. You need to do some research and troubleshooting.

I have a Boulder It's overheating and shutting off It's 11/2 years old

My wife and I have the same phone and after three years of flawless service, my wife's phone overheated and the battery died. I swapped her battery with mine .... same thing. I swapped phones with her and it happened again with my phone! Why? My wife was leaving the phone turned on and storing it in a metal file cabinet. It was continually trying to make a connection and ran the battery down so fast that the phone heated up. She stopped doing that and the phone is fine again.

What does it mean when the battery light is displayed on the dash board on my 528i 1999 BMW? Does it mean my battery is going bad? The lights and the radio is working fine.

It can mean 2 things, different cars have different lights, if it was a ford, and the battery light came on, it would mean it was charging. If your bmw light comes on, it could mean it is low,, needs charging,, or is charging. I would check the battery cond before I went any farther. Check the voltage at park, nothing on, not running, then fire it up and check the voltage again. Check the water level in the battery, then check the electrolytic fluid in the battery with one of those floaty ball things. they work great. My wife's battery just died, no warning, went down to 5 volts, worked fine in the morning, 4:00, it was deader than a doughnut. Check it out.
