https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mKOhRtQvKO0 Park the charging vehicle close enough to the vehicle with the battery so the cables reach to both cars. Connect the red positive positive to the positive terminal on both ends. Connect the black negative to the negative terminals on each vehicles. After about a minute, try to crank the car with the dead battery.

If the PassLock light is blinking when you experience this issue then your problem may be the ignition switch. This is a know problem with these vehicles. The repair is actually simple.
Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
Remove the switch. Open the switch unit up. (it has clips holding it together.) Clean the grease from the components and replace with a low temp dielectric grease. Put the unit back together and reinstall.
Well, the first answer is right but doesn't solve the problem and the second answer is wrong as the battery is in the trunk.
Just had the exact same problem. Battery dead on 2005 ion due to head lights left on which causes the key to stick in ignition.
Could not get to the battery in trunk because key stuck and power trunk switch also dead (no battery power, catch 22).
Solution: I hooked up a battery charger to the positive terminal under the hood by the fuse box and the negative to the engine block and charged it for 20 minutes. You could also jump it using the same terminals.
Batteries on Saturns are usually too low to find so they have a red cover in the top of the engine that connects to the battery below, there is where you will add the red cable to, and you can ground the next cable.
they don't want you too ... there is a terminal usually near one of the strut towers with a red cap on it and you hook up the ground to any where else metal is showing.
