If battery is completely discharged, you will not be able to push start your F650GS. The fuel pump needs to have power to pressurize the fuel system in order for the engine to run.

Best solution is to purchase a battery tender or other small charger and keep the battery in top shape when you have the bike parked.

Good Luck!

I have a 2013 hyosung gt 650. it seems to have clutch drag and when i go to put it in first gear it crunches gears

Adjust the clutch cable on the left handlebar. It should have 2-3mm of free play before it starts pulling on the cable. If your clutch is not fully disengaging this will happen. Here's a link to the page in the owner's manual that details the adjustment:

To break loose a stuck clutch, push-start the motor, jump on, get to about 10 mph, pull the clutch lever in and hit the rear brake hard.

I just changed the clutch cable to add apehanger bars, got everything back together, but noticed the clutch handle was very loose.I preceded to adjust until it was tighter, but there is still 1" or so...

With the engine off, put the bike in gear and try to push it. If it rolls, your clutch is disengaged for some reason. You'll have to pull the end off of the transmission where the clutch cable goes in and check to find out what's wrong.

Good Luck

RE: Yamaha XVS650 (2005) Australia I don't seem to be able to start the bike with the clutch in and in gear. The manual suggests that this should be possible. Does this indicate a problem with the "clutch...

Could be a problem with the clutch switch, could be a problem with the kick stand switch. Many bikes will only start in neutral if the kickstand is down, no matter what you do with the clutch.

My 650 dragstar starts fine but cuts out as soon as I engage gear. Have checked the side stand switch and it is working fine. Any ideas?

The side stand switch can work in cojunction with a clutch switch.
It still sounds like a side stand problem, check the wires and plug, use a multi meter to check the switch. If you didnt check it that way.
The switch may work but the stand is not pushing the contact far enough

Does the neutral light work correctly?

Assuming it is not clutch drag with the bike jumping and stalling when put in gear

1982 yamaha xj650 starting

Check the electrical switch in the clutch lever, most bikes have one as a safety, so you cant start it in gear, unless the clutch is in, could be a faulty switch, also do you have a switch on your side stand, sometimes these can be faulty as well.

I Pull in the clutch handle but cannot shift the bike into gear. How do I tell if this is a clutch problem or a transmission problem?

When did this problem start? has the bike been sitting for any long period of time? any background on the bike leading to your problem would help.
questions
1. will the bike shift into gear not running all gears check it first put the bike on the center stand and rotate the rear wheel and go through the gears shifting if that is ok your good
2. shifting into gear bike running does not want to go?
grinds or lurches forward? problems from sitting for long months or yrs. sometimes when a motorcycle sits the clutch plates that are in oil will act like they are glued together ans some time can be freed after the engine oil has warmed up, in worse case you have to remove the r/h clutch cover and remove the clutch pressure plate and separate each of clutch plates and reassemble it.

1982 Honda 650 nighthawk; jumps and stalls when put into gear.

this may help,it doesnt sound like the clutch is out of adjustment,it sounds like the clutch plates have become stuck together,(this happens quite a bit if the bike has been parked for a while..ie over winter)..to fix it get the bike moving, down a drive way or something..then just bang it into gear, then shift into the highest gear you can by shifting without the clutch, once you have a bit of pace on simply hold the clutch lever in and work the throttle on and off all the while holding the clutch lever in,the clutch should free itself fairly quickly and should be back to normall,a lot of older bikes are good at doing this..hope this helps
