Use 10w40 in the gearbox. Get the oil from your Yamaha dealer along with any filter your bike may need. Some bikes use an oil change as the "filter". To drain oil, get the engine warmed up and turn it off. Put a pan under the gearbox and remove the oil drain plug. Replace the oil plug when the flow becomes a slow drip. Change oil in late spring, the middle of summer and in early fall. Remember to lube the chain and adjust it when needed. Lubricate the cables with liquid graphite. Lastly, install a stock spark plug. Now go for a ride.

SOURCE: oil change on a 1993 yz 250

The filter is under a cover plate just forward of the clutch and towards the top of the gearbox. With filter change, the bike takes 1.16 quarts of 10w40 motor oil. ( 1.1 liter ).

Use the weight your manual suggests. As long as it does not say EC (energy conserving) on the label it will be fine. Pay attention to your expected temperature, the weight of oil suggested changes based on your local temperatures.

I believe the engine and transmission are shared, using the same oil.
You should have a sight glass on the left side, and it should be checked after a warm up, and then sit for a couple of minutes. I think it's close to a quart and a half.

With the nasty noises and no oil pressure I think the engine may have trashed the crankshaft bearings and probably the connecting rod. If this has been going on for very long, the crankshaft may be trashed also. Take it to a dealer and let them listen to it for confirmation.

What make and grade engine oil 2001 yamaha r6

I Would Recommend Using YAMALUBE Oils For This Bike. Your Dealer Can Supply The Right Oil And Filter. It Will Cost More Than Going To Wal-Mart But Your Engine Is Worth It. The Engine Oil Lubes The Transmission and Clutch. See The Dealer On This One .The Engine You Save Will Be Yours.

It seems that there are diferent types of filters, need to know the correct ones for 1990 Yamaha yx 600 Radian. ....fuel filter, oil filter, and engine oil? thank you. APB

I RECOMMEND THE YAMAHA OIL FILTER FOR IT HAS A BETTER RELIEF VALVE. RECOMMENDED ENGINE OIL IS YAMALUBE 20W50 ALL PURPOSE. THERE IS NO FUEL FILTER,AS IT IS BUILT IN THE GAS VALVE.YOU CAN PUT IN A SMALL INLINE FILTER IF YOU LIKE.

How much oil does the bike hold, and does the clutch use the same oil? What is the reccommended oil wieght

The chief benefit with synthetic oils is they can withstand higher heat and flow better when cold.
10w40 or 20w50 will work. Manual Recommends Yamalube 4 (10w30 or SAE 10w30 10-100 F)
Yamalube 4 (10w40 or SAE 10w40 35-120 F) approx.
API Service SE,SF, SG type or higher.
Crank case oil capacity without filter 2.75 quarts
Crank case oil capacity with oil filter 2.96 quarts
It is HIGHLY recommended not to add the stated capacity all at once. Check site glass often when nearing the total amount needed. You DO NOT want to overfill.
Clutch use the same oil? If you mean the brake system Recommended is DOT 4 brake fluid.
Manual only shows Clutch and cable system and adjustments.
Good luck!
Hope this helps

Two stroke oil

Use the factory " YAMALUBE " oil. Engine oil is not a big deal but you can't go wrong if you stick to factory products.
